        the resources of the BAU were limited. there was no way they could effectively handle or assist with all of the cases that were sent to them for review. it was his responsibility to make sure they were taking the right cases, making the right calls, and that didn’t include investigating COLD CASES. if a fresh body turned up maybe, but nothing that had been sitting for nearly a decade. of course, that didn’t stop aaron from personally reviewing a file that found it’s way onto his desk. the dates of the reports weren’t comforting and there was little in the way of evidence, there was no chance he’d be able to bring in his entire team for an investigation. --  but maybe there was another way the bureau could assist the small rural community.               ❝good morning ziva,❞ hotch leads with a small smile which he hopes falls somewhere in the realm of CHARMING. agent king was green-lighted to work cases the bau couldn’t, and was an expert in her field. he has the case in one hand, but in the other he has what he recalls to be her favorite drink from the cafe across the street. ❝i’m hoping you might be able to lend me a hand with something -- sort of unofficially.❞                                           @fbiartist |  smol starters ( accepting )

           it was an unfortunate reality that hotchner had been in most of the MAXIMUM SECURITY prisons along the east coast. the process is always the same, the way you check in, the security protocols, it was REPETITIOUS - but not in a comforting way. the slamming of steel, guards shouting, it wasn’t conducive to being at ease in any capacity.               when he’s taken inside the room ms. keen is already seated. she’s not restrained, which only concerns him briefly - but he doesn’t suspect there’s a real THREAT. he’d definitely be filing a report with the department of justice about the lax nature of their employees potentially endangering the life of a federal agent.  ❝I was told you’d REQUESTED to speak with me?❞                                     @cruciatustm | smol starters ( accepting )

             cambridge was beautiful in the spring and it sat in sharp CONTRAST with the nature of hotchner’s visit to the city. harvard's campus was pristine. white columns standing against a backdrop of red bricks. while hotch had gotten an acceptance letter for his undergraduate studies from harvard, he’d ended up going with YALE because of it was closer to hayley’s school of choice. walking the quad took him back in time for a moment, before he could shake it off and tell himself to FOCUS.                the military consultant had been informed of their arrival, and aaron’s ready to get his INPUT on a few working pieces of a preliminary profile. a polite student assistant shows him to a generic conference room where his contact is waiting. ❝captain fick, thank you for meeting with me on such short notice.❞ he knows parts of this consultation will be more of an interview, and the idea that the series of murders could have anything to do with the 1st battalion, or BRAVO COMPANY, will be a hard pill to swallow. this was one of the rare occasions hotch wished he was wrong about what they’d inferred so far.                                             ploted(ish) starter @assuredofthis​​

            doctor  king’s  presentation  had  been  very  informative.  what  she  was  able  to  do  was  an  asset  to  every  unit,  but  especially  relevant  to  the  BAU.  ❝so  then  what  exactly  are  the  limitations  of  the  new  software?❞  it  wasn’t  always  possible  for  an  agent  of  doctor  king’s  CALIBER  to  be  on-site  for  an  ongoing  investigation,  and  it  wasn’t  always  feasible  to  ship  remains  to  quantico  for  analysis.  sometimes  the  limitations  were  jurisdictional,  sometimes  religious,  but  having  accurate  software  support  -- especially  if  it  would  be  ADMISSIBLE in  court,  could  be  a  game  changer  for  the  timeliness  of  their  processes.  ❝would  special  training  be  required  for  field  agents  responsible  for  photographing  remains  for  upload  specifically  to  your  program?❞  //   ♥   @fbiartist​

           aaron didn’t care for espionage or POLITICS, and somehow he’d landed in the middle of both. he also wasn’t big on being kept in the dark, or playing the pawn in someone’s POWER GRAB. someone had arranged for him to walk into that prison and walk out with this woman, and he was going to find out why. the only comfort was in that she didn’t have all the pieces to this PUZZLE either, though with her inflated ego - he was certain she thought she did. her display of self-importance hadn’t impressed the long time PROFILER, but when his phone finally rang - it wasn’t anything he’d expected. now the SUV he’d driven up in felt crowded and stilted with silence as he pulled onto the freeway.  ❝I need to speak with my team, then you’ll be dropped off at the appointed location.❞                                                                                                 ♥ @cruciatustm​
