Yo so not being from Canada im just trying to grasp the thing you posted about residential schools... Explain? Coz I mean it sounds on par with Australia and the stolen gen. Which I am still disgusted by, my gov why? But seriously, Canada, the fuck?
One of my recent posts summarizes it pretty simply:
Residential Schools were designed to ‘kill the indian in the child’. Children were taken from their families and raised in Church ran schools; they were forbidden from practicing their culture or speaking their languages. Many were physically, mentally and sexually abused. The last residential school in Canada closed in 1996.
I understand racist practices like this also took place in the United States and Australia.
