Funniest thing that happened today to me in the online realm
Someone left TWO reviews on my crossover (Moonlight Warrior of Egypt) just to say they didn’t like it.
That’s it.
They didn’t even bother saying what exactly they disliked, just that it’s a story they didn’t like.
Wow. I ain’t even mad. It’s just too amusing to be mad at. Like one review wasn’t enough for you, eh?
But when it comes to helpfuless, at least the other person that left a multi paragraph review full of specific things they didn’t like or they thought should have been changed was better.
I DID IT
Folks, I did it.
I started a crossover fanfiction back in 2008 that was part of a planned multi-story extended universe sort of gig. Turns out that plan was wayyyyy too ambitious for its own good. The entire rest of the project got scrapped when I realized just how overwhelming it was to try to write THAT much for my set of OCs in someone else’s canon.
BUT NOW
IT
IS
FINISHED
Took me eleven whole years but I DID IT!
I ACTUALLY FINISHED A FANFICTION THAT WASN’T A ONESHOT!!!
(you can click here to check out the fic btw)
It didn’t end up how I had initially planned. I had to edit the early chapters to include missing context when planned fics for my OCs didn’t get written. I had to hack and slash through later chapters for things to remain even remotely cohesive. There were way too many characters to juggle and dog gammit if it wasn’t a huge piece of work to try to keep everyone in character, especially when I switched between various fandoms and wasn’t always in touch with Yu-Gi-Oh! or Sailor Moon.
BUT I GOT IT DONE!!!
I usually give up way partway through stuff like this and set it aside. But this story was sitting at the back of my brain, making my anxiety worse. Now that it’s finished and off my plate, I can finally breath and relax so much better.
It’s a wonderful, WONDERFUL feeling to just get it taken care of and stop putting off my story.
And yeah, by now I probably won’t write anything more with those OCs, at least not for those two fandoms (I reworked Amber and Amberite into some roleplay I’m doing with friends, and Amber kinda split into two characters for another fandom of mine for different fics). But that’s okay! With the way I revised the ending, I gave myself an opening to write just for canon characters in a way I can handle the next time I revisit Yu-Gi-Oh! and Sailor Moon combining together!
So I look out my window expecting to see rain because I swore I was hearing thunder, but there was nothing. Turns out, it’s my cat, who is sitting 3 feet away, purring up a storm in my room.
