My only fandom-related wip is the fic I’m writing for RQBB, so here are the latest lines from my original project (about an agender fairy who runs a magical antiques shop):
“He’ll hate you for it, you know,” Death says softly, adding her domino to the array. “He won’t be grateful for what you’ve given him, even if it’s exactly what he asked for. Humans never are.” She adjusts her tile until the two five-pip sections are perfectly aligned. “He’ll only see the limitations, the imperfections, and he’ll grow to resent you for them more and more with every day that passes. 35.”
Mx. Grey nods in acknowledgement as they reach for the pen and score pad.
“He’ll curse your name for this,” Death adds as the shopkeeper impartiality notes the score.
“Then it’s a good thing he doesn’t know my name, so the curse won’t stick,” Mx. Grey says lightly, eyes on their own tiles. “It doesn’t matter what he thinks of me, or how much he mutters under his breath and whispers behind my back, as long as we both hold to our ends of the bargain, and I intend to keep mine. With your assistance, of course.”
