❝ hyung, when i tell you that i have a brilliant idea and that it involves fried chicken, you really should consider everything first if you’re gonna regret it before we even get to the fried chicken. ❞ even if the fried chicken was only involved in his plan as a reward after the real task, he still has to stifle a snicker at how easy it was to get the older male to agree with the promise of one of the pride and joys of korean food. still, his blatant lack of disclosure when it came to actual details of his plans should’ve been enough of a warning for mino to know tonight was going to be as ridiculous as the dumb and dumber mv. then again, hanbin feels he has every right to live up to that self-given moniker for him and bobby. speaking of which, why bobby isn’t tagging along is a damn shame but he thinks mino is a good choice too.

❝ you can trust my friends, hyung. no one will find out about this later. ❞ his voice drips with reassurance and the utmost confidence but participating in a running man style scavenger hunt in the middle of the night in seoul when they’re both idols doesn’t seem like a wise choice under any circumstances. ❝ or are you disappointed it’s mostly guys? ❞ it’s an immature dig if he’s ever made one and he practically cackles, knowing full well the true concerns that lie with such a game. ❝ there’s no nudity either. i swear. unless you’re into that type of thing, then you can go to a bath house yourself. ❞

“You’re a terrible cook.”

❝ i never claimed to be a masterchef, you know ❞ rolling his eyes, hanbin prodded at the failed pajeon with the end of his chopsticks. deflated, just like his hopes of being a culinary genius. ❝ maybe you should’ve asked me for bread instead. what’s the matter? don’t trust me with the actual love of your life? ❞ he laughs, more than satisfied with his teasing words but his expression softens as he stares at her, his smile growing docile as he tilts his head, regarding her pensively.  

❝ but… are you really hungry? what’s wrong? why would you trust me enough in the kitchen? you barely trust me enough with the remote. ❞ and with good reason at that. then again, he never knows how he trusts her to show him anything when she goes on and on about memes, meatspin in particular, which is an idea he will never completely cleanse his mind of no matter how hard he tries. 

many things weigh on his mind, most especially the growing distance between them since the confession. he thinks his lack of presence doesn’t help at all either but he can’t help it. his schedules take him away and she drifts off to sleep more times than most. not that he blames her for it. he’s envious even and a little wary. together, there’s a tendency to stray. stray off topic, stray from aim to rabbit to everything else in between, to stray from obligations and responsibilities but, most of all, they stray the furthest away from time. 

he forgets time when she’s around and he knows. he knows she’s the same way. staying up until 5am listening to music remains his favorite memory of her but the more he’s around her, the more he notices the memories blending. he has no true favorite because she always makes him laugh despite himself. in the most sullen of moments, her love for bread and rampant rambling can drive him to fits of laughter. 

admittedly, hanbin doesn’t belong in the kitchen but he thinks he belongs in this moment as much as she does. ❝ i miss you, y’kno. you’re my best friend. you’re always gonna be my favorite girl so tell me. when you think it’s nothing, tell me anything. when you tell me there’s no tea so stop checking up on you, let’s brew some together. ❞

❝ maybe you should’ve thought about that before you asked bobby to cook, even if it was a joke. the guy has no chill. did you think he would know better? ❞ he laughs, even if the situation scares him a little too and he’s lacking in ‘chill’ himself. him and bobby are dumb and dumber after all. it speaks for all of ikon but hanbin admits him and bobby are an unstoppable duo of dumb and dumber. the moniker couldn’t be more perfect for them. still, there’s a reason the cooking mostly lies on jinhwan or yunhyeong. ❝ you can’t waste food either, hyung. ❞ his words are dripping with his smug tone, relief and amusement filtering into the sing-song syllables. ❝ but... i’ve been wondering... what is that? i don’t even recognize what he made you. what did you want? were you sleeptalking when you asked him? it doesn’t seem right. ❞ how appalled he is is painted across his features and he nearly cringes as he takes a fork and prods the food in question, if it is indeed edible after all. he isn’t sure, not in the slightest.

the question had come up randomly, a passing thought he voiced immediately without hesitance, the result of comfort being around her; the result of a friendship formed in an abstract manner. simply put, it’s easy to talk to luna. no pressure, no forced conversation. natural. but the question is, admittedly, more controversial than he realizes at first. solos and sm come randomly and, in some groups, for members one wouldn’t expect it from. still, he’s surprised she hasn’t had one yet because, to him, it’s a question of when and the question of if shouldn’t exist with a voice like luna’s. ❝ i mean it. ❞ he repeats, the sentiment still dripping in his words. but he’d gladly say it again. hanbin does believe in her.  ❝ i’d help you if you wanted. ah, like how christian-sunbae helped amber-sunbae. it’d be nice, right? to work on something together. our companies don’t do that often though, i think. right? but i’d want to. if it’s you, i wouldn’t mind. ❞
