28. "Something scared me" hug.

It had always been perpetually dark in the Sapstrath Deepwood for as long as Elize had known of the woods. The place always sent chills down the young girl's spine, allowing a strong sense of unease to wrap itself tightly around her as she proceeded deeper into the wood. Somehow now though the woods seemed darker. The shadows were longer, and the tree's limbs reached out as if to pluck the girl from her path.

Despite the place being utterly terrifying, Elize could atleast thank the spirits that she was not alone today. Trekking through the wood next to the girl was her friend, Jude. Having him with her made her feel immensely better, and yet the dreadful feeling in her stomach refused to let up.

Her bright green eyes turned their gaze to the older, but in the mere seconds that the action stole, she caught a glimpse of something move from the corner of her eye. Panic was quick to rise up and overcome the small girl, releasing a shrill shriek from her lips. Quickly, without thinking, she lunged behind the older boy, arms wrapping tightly around his waist in an attempt to protect herself.

“Hmph.” Ludger grunted, eyeing the young man irritably before finally relenting with a sigh. Why was the kid so hard to say ‘no’ to? He did it all the time to the rest of the free-loaders-- else Ludger was pretty sure Alvin and Leia (the most brazen offenders) would be on the couch right now... 

“Sure, if you want to. I--” another sigh “--made too much food, so it’d actually be helpful if you stayed for dinner. Sorry Milla and Elle aren't around tonight though.” 

By default he’d made the amount he usually made for him and Julius, which usually wasn’t a problem with the former Maxwell and an energetic eight-year-old around, but... well, at least they’d headed off together this time, he supposed. 

A pause, then he gestured with the spoon. “So... do you want to try some while we’re waiting?”

                    having parted ways from sorey briefly, rose hums a little tune as she takes a leisurely stroll along one of the small towns. her original intention is to simply deal with some nasty guild business that sorey needn’t be aware of; however, there have been rumors of some miraculous happenings among towns within the area. she might as well check it out & gather some information on it, assuming it being some swindler who’s taking advantage of the citizens. instead what she happens to find is a seraphim, a few strides away.

                    ❛ so you’re the one that’s been helping around here ? ❜ a peppy remark resonates, a hand on her hip and an upward curved mouth on her expression. she doesn’t quite walk to the seraphim yet. a distance is always necessary to gauge a person first. ❛ i thought it was a conman instead of a seraphim ! who would’ve guessed ? ❜

“J-Jude!” the blonde appeared beside the medical student just after she called his name, hoping that it would be enough to get his attention. She wasn’t used to it, and back in Hamil she dared to make herself noticed if out of that shed, and so she was a little nervous, but it was a relief. “Me and Teepo were wondering if you want to help us with making Rowen a present! He said it’s his birthday soon, so we wanted to make something, but we need to make it fast!”
