titans tower, not the titans tower but a good enough replica to cause something to stir in his chest, loomed above him like a promise. this was no jump city but the familiar structure gave him some comfort. 

dick had a penchant for lurking and loitering, and this happened to be one of his favorite spots. just at the base of the tower. but today something told him to just suck it up and go in. that something had bruce’s voice. 

he pressed the button for the elevator, expecting it not to work, and was surprised when the doors slid open seamlessly. the ride up was quiet and when it delivered him up to the top floor, where the living room was, he expected the room to be in disrepair as well. again he was surprised, it looked just like it had the last time he’d seen it. 

a year here and his senses still hadn’t dulled, he could sense movement nearby. “who’s there?!”
