“If that were true, then there’s a high chance I’d be one of the happiest people in the world, probably right under Hitler. Which kinda sounds wrong.” A bitter laugh trickled out of her, however she offered up a grin to the other woman. “It’s hard to say that they don’t deserve the misery on the other hand, and kindness is such a strain to share.”

As cliche as it was, bartenders were still one of the best sources of information, in William’s experience. So when he’d been told that his next mark could often be seen in this club, his first move was towards the woman serving drinks with a scowl. He waited patiently for her attention to turn to him and ordered his drink. When it was placed in front of him, he leaned across the bar a bit to get closer to her, lowering his voice to something obviously meant for discretion. “If I said that I was looking for information on one of your patrons, what would it take for me to get it?”
