Re: the mutual missed eye contact - No one can tell me that after 10 seasons together, neither one of those guys CAN'T feel the other's gaze on them the majority of the time. The way one will wait to look back as soon as they know they're not being watched shows (IMO) that they know exactly what they're doing. It's probably for the best (their best), though, since one of the last times they allowed themselves to "look back" (SCF '15), they looked like they were gonna kiss. Multiple times. ;)

What are some of your favourite “gonna kiss” moments from the Cup celebration that year? Maybe these ones?

i dont know if you noticed but at the end of the game, after the hi fives, jonny was going back to the locker room, patrick was sitting on the board bc he was one of the 3 stars. well jonny walked by without fist bumping kaner and patrick hit him with his stick to get his attention. very co dependent

I wonder why he didn’t fist bump Pat in the first place. After Patrick got his attention, what did Jonny do? Did he give Pat a fist bump?

did you happen to catch the cbc feed at all? after the skills competition doughty was being interviewed and then you see keith and weber talking in the background and jonny skates over to play with colton and it was the cutest thing. im so sad no one has posted it yet. that must have been right before toews and kane took the photo on the ice with keith and colton

This is the only moment I can think of, but Jonny isn’t really paying attention to Colton. For the most part he was looking somewhere else, and then he glances at Kaner.

Was it the same moment described by @fannishtalk here?

People always talk about Jonny advocating for Kaner prior to the 07 draft, but I feel like PK never gets enough love for admitting that one of his FIRST THOUGHTS when his name was called was along the lines of "I could be linemates with Jonathan." Biggest night of Patrick's life, and his initial reaction was to consider a "future" with Tazer... We couldn't make this stuff up if we tried.

I agree with you that I love Patrick’s thoughts as well. It seems in big moments he often thinks about Jonny - when he was drafted and when he won the Conn Smythe. I have a tag Kaner had a flashback to Jonny for talking about it. :D

I think we’ve now heard three times about Jonny advocating for Kaner: 1) in the 2015 Winter Classic program; 2) in the NHL100 profile for Kaner; 3) in the 10th anniversary Blackhawks magazine article. 

(edited to add: it is supposedly also mentioned in Laz’s new book, but I haven’t seen it yet)

I like @fannishtalk’s musings about Kaner’s thoughts post-draft. I wonder if they kept in touch.
