Oh, dear. First, sorry this reply is so long lmao. I have a lot of thoughts and no self control.

Well, you see, I see Caius as a very cruel, cold creature. In my mind, he's the one that really twisted the twins into the cruel being they are today. His heart is closed off to anyone he crosses paths with and does not care who he hurts.

But...

If Caius had found a human mate, there would be many hesitations in his cruel actions.

At first, I imagine he may be extra cruel to them out of fear of his own emotions. Whether this be in criticizing who they are or what they like, it's just up to his mood. But, he doesn't show physical cruelty, which is the first sign that this human is special.

Caius either recognizes immediately he's somehow 'accidentally' formed a mating bond with a human, or he doesn't recognize his emotions at first and all the kindness and softness he suddenly wants to start expressing repulses him.

Aro and Marcus, of course, know immediately and try to have one of the guard constantly assigned to the human in case Caius gets frustrated and tries to take it out on his mate. But this triggers a jealousy in Caius and in his own selfishness, he starts to keep his mate present with only him. His behavior isolates the human mate for a while until they have a mild break down over suddenly being cut off from everyone; they fear that perhaps everyone has suddenly started to dislike them, or perhaps there is something wrong with them that the other guard don't want to be around.

This causes Caius some distress and this is where I see him first beginning to actually outwardly show any softness. Perhaps it's just him offering a tissue for the human to wipe their tears away, or maybe if Caius is feeling brave, a comforting hand on their shoulder.

But, his words stay short. "That is not the reason you have not seen your friends," would be all he'd say.

Caius, feeling bad (as he should) for this, tries to push his jealousy aside and allow his human mate to be social again. And this activates something more in him; seeing his mate smile and have fun thaws his heart. Day by day, little by little, but he never shows any outward tellings of this.

Not until he can't take holding back anymore. Just one, small impulse of kindness (see also: affection) would be all it would take for his human mate to realize their feelings are requited; a small kiss on the forehead before they retire to their room to sleep, a gift of a beautiful piece of jewelry, or even Caius sending a guard out to bring back the human's favorite meal.

After that, it's history.

Caius may fight feeling human emotions but once he hits that turning point, he begins to melt like butter in a microwave.

Caius loves to show off his mate with nice, shiny things. Which means he showers them with gifts. Dresses, rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings. Shoes; heels, sneakers, boots, you name it. Dresses and skirts and jumpsuits and coats. Anything he would like to see on his mate, or that his mate wants, they get.

Does the human mate have glasses? Welp, here's a new pair with blood diamonds imbedded in them. Ope, here's a pair made of pure gold or silver. Oh, they hate wearing glasses? Here's money for lasik.

Every single thing Caius thinks his mate could ever need will be brought into the castle, which may cause some tension. There is no need to leave, everything will be delivered right to your door, darling.

Now, while other Volturi members are around, he would likely act casual. He may hold their hand or tuck their hair behind their ears, but when they're alone, there isn't a moment where his mate isn't in his arms or his lap.

I also see him biting frequently as a show of affection. Clawing. Squeezing. Pinching.

But oh, do not get him jealous. He will attempt to have anyone he sees as a threat tossed aside. His mate has to reign him in and scold him frequently; "Stop trying to get Felix to rip Demetri to pieces and set him on fire. Demetri laughed at a joke I made, he didn't grab my ass".

Ah, the tense romance of it all. Soft, fragile human frequently scolding Caius and putting him in his place as he pretends to be the scariest, meanest monster one can ever dream of.

And he is, of course.

Just not to his mate.

I am going to be honest... I have very little concept of being Gen Z (I'm a Millennial lol). I think I know some, but not well.

And I think that hinders my ability to really see any of the Volturi really partaking in TikTok videos. I mean, I can see Felix being amused and even partaking in the slang, but that might be as far as it goes in my headcanons.

I see Marcus being... tolerant. Patient. I cannot see him partaking in any of the silly energy (not derogatory) that goes into the Gen Z humor and terms. He's a gentle, quiet, lowkey lover that will watch with love (and confusion) while his lover makes videos. He loves the way she glows and laughs and the way her eyes shine when she makes videos, gets like, shares, etc (however that works).

If you can drop some gen z terms for me I can try writing some AU headcanons for you where Marcus would be more involved!! I want to write something nice for all my requesters lol.

I think Alec would be a little apprehensive at first. He isn't used to sharing with someone who isn't his sister and he may act petulantly for a while. "You seemed to enjoy talking to him, maybe you should go be his mate instead". And instead of letting this get to them, his mate just frowns and continues to show her love for him. Afterall, being kind to someone doesn't mean you are romantically or sexually interested in them; this was a difficult lesson to learn for the vampires who were cruel and hesitant about love.

He may watch with mild irritation or jealousy at first, but upon seeing the happiness being social brings to his mate, he would try to indulge in it as well.

First, he accompanies his mate to public events the kings throw; galas, weddings, various parties and such. He watches his mate from afar, but after each event he moves closer and closer.

Eventually, instead of standing on the sidelines like a wilted wallflower, Alec is suddenly being included more and more in conversations. It makes him feel good to be seen, but he enjoys being seen happy with his happy mate even more. The rumors of him being a sour, jealous lover are now gone and he revels in being seen as a sweet yet protective lover who enjoys the happiness his mate feels. He's no longer that wilted flower; he's bloomed thanks to the tender care from his mate.

His mate's moods are infectious to him, but he does not hesitate to set any records straight about his mate making him weak. His power only grew stronger as time went on; his happy, confident mate bringing out the positivity and confidence in him that he needed to hone his gift even more.

Can I have headcanons for Aro x reader with OCD/ intrusive thoughts? Like really intense ones that leave them feeling really upset and ashamed about their thoughts. Thoughts about hurting others and the thoughts scare them. Thank you 💕

I will write this with what I've personally experienced with these types of intrusive thoughts, which I hope is alright.

I suppose a general Content Warning for intrusive and violent thoughts towards self and others should be labeled here. I'll put a "read more" for those who do not accidentally want to see anything beyond this point.

Aro has seen a lot in his over three thousand years as a vampire.

But what never ceases to amaze him is the complexity and ruthlessness of the human brain and the pain it causes to the soul it's attached to.

Vampires, of course, can go through grief, depression, etc. I mean, look at Marcus. But it was just different for vampires. Unless their mate was taken from them, or unless there were vampires like Victoria whose gifts were created from their mental state as a human, vampires generally did not struggle with the same struggles as humans did with mental health.

Aro's initial shock at this human's mental state would be almost apparent; his eyes would widen as he looked at the poor soul before him. His hand would almost flinch away from them, but he knew that this would cause the human great distress.

I think Aro would be quite apprehensive to read anyone's mind who suffered from severe mental health issues as it would feel almost too intrusive. Not only that, but I think it would affect him; he would feel pity or sympathy, and he really dislikes having to feel any human emotion that isn't a replica of a manic high that people with mood disorders feel. He wants no part of feeling sorry for anyone and would be quite avoidant.

But, if Aro grew to enjoy the company of the human, platonically or otherwise, I imagine he would learn to cope better with the readings.

That exam you didn't get the perfect A on that makes you want to impulsively drive your car into a group of people? Well, Aro will help you study. He doesn't like the nightmares you suffer from having such terrible thoughts you didn't actually want to act on.

The shirt you're trying to iron out isn't smoothing and you want to grab the nearest pencil and shove it into the closest person's eye socket? Aro will take the shirt and try the steamer on it. He doesn't like the self loathing you feel for yourself, and he really doesn't like the thought of you thinking you should shove the pencil through your own eye socket just for the thought invading your brain.

The shopping trip you went on went perfectly until you typed in your pin number with the wrong finger and now your entire day is ruined; in the moment you thought that perhaps if you could blow the entire store to ruin with everyone inside it might make everything better. When you get home, Aro takes your hand to see in your memories what coping skill would help best in this situation and does what he sees. Maybe it's a bath. Maybe it's going back to the store to buy a candy bar just to be able to type in the pin number with the right finger this time. Or maybe it's your favorite meal, cooked only the way you like it and served on your favorite plate with your favorite fork.

Aro would be surprised to find himself willingly taking your hand during these moments of shame, embarrassment, self hatred, etc just so he can understand you better and understand how to help you.

I also think that Aro would pick up a book or two and try to learn what he can about this condition and different coping mechanisms to subtly teach if his human companion feels too afraid or embarrassed to go to therapy themselves.

I have always wanted to give Ukraine a try. I've lived in S. Korea (I'm from the US) and I visited Japan a couple times. I was supposed to travel to Ukraine in like 2016, but life stuff happened and I didn't get the chance. And now, because of the war, I will never get to see some of the historical beauty because it's been forever destroyed.

Do you think Felix would ever have any pets? Like cats or turtles (the ones that can live for over 100 or 200 years) or a snake maybe?

As cute as pet-owning Felix would be, I cannot imagine him caring to have any unless it’s like a huge boa or anaconda. But having reptiles is a little complex and I’m not sure he’d care enough. Unless he met a human mate who loves reptiles, then he wouldn’t mind too much.

Afterall, I do believe that Smeyers said that vampires in love *can* change emotionally/mentally. I think Felix would love having large predators, but no ankle-biter dogs or anything.
