Cursed hybrids
When they wish to never be resurrected or reborn
cursed hybrids can psychically kill themselves through a complex process that requires plenty of mental fortitude and profound concentration.
Firstly, they sever their spiritual essence that's connected to the metaphysics of the universe and their ancestral lineage.
Secondly, they begin to biologically degrade each of their organic systems, starting with the digestive system. Thirdly, they destroy the neural and circulatory systems simultaneously because they're the two major organic systems that assist with their survival, making sure that the damage is scientifically and magically irreversible to ensure resurrection and regeneration is impossible. Lastly, their body is instinctively engulfed in self-induced flames that consume whatever biologically remains of them. The only things left of them are their emotions, which are absorbed by the universe's cosmic web and the leylines of the different realms of the cosmos, including the mortal plane. These released emotions serve as healing energy to ensure the equilibrium of the entire universe, patching up any structural instability that might've threatened to form for whatever reason. This is one they decide they do not want to be resurrected or reincarnated
If a cursed hybrid isn’t killed by its own hand but by someone else, the only reliable ways to end it are by destroying the brain or piercing the heart. If neither method is used, a rare, specialized poison must be administered one potent enough to shut the body down completely and stop all movement. This makes things extremely difficult for vampire hunters, especially those who aim to harvest every part of the creature. In most cases, they’re forced to destroy either the brain or the heart, making those organs the most valuable and sought-after, since eliminating the hybrid without damaging one of them is nearly impossible.
Resurrection and suicide Even choosing to stay in that state
Cursed hybrids possess the inherent ability to end their own lives without undergoing any prolonged or grotesque transformation, and this act is understood to be a controlled and deliberate transition rather than a true death. Their existence is bound to a continuous cycle in which death serves only as an intermediate phase. Inevitably, they return through rebirth or resurrection, their physical form restored as part of an unbroken pattern of renewal. When a cursed hybrid initiates this process, the body does not decay in any natural sense; instead, it shifts into a distinct in-between state. The form may collapse into a dense, ink-like substance or fracture apart, its surface cracking and separating as though reality itself is pulling it apart.
This transformation marks their entry into a liminal realm that exists between life and death, a suspended state where they are neither fully alive nor entirely gone. Within this space, time continues to move forward, but they are detached from it, existing as observers rather than participants. Cursed hybrids are capable of choosing to remain in this state indefinitely, effectively trapping themselves within this "bubble" between existence and nonexistence. While in this condition, they do not require food, water, or any form of sustenance, and they are unaffected by the physical needs or limitations that govern the living. They can witness the passage of time and the unfolding of events beyond their reach, yet remain unable to directly interact with the world they once inhabited.
When a cursed hybrid chooses to be resurrected or reborn, the transition out of the liminal state begins immediately and cannot be reversed. The environment of the "bubble" responds as the still, suspended surface beneath them destabilizes. The strange, ink-like water that defines this in-between realm suddenly drops away and deepens, expanding into a vast, consuming abyss. With nothing left to support them, the hybrid is pulled downward, falling into the darkened depths as the substance rises to envelop them completely.
As this descent continues, their physical form begins to deteriorate in a controlled but irreversible process. Their body breaks apart, not into decay, but into delicate, flower-like fragments that drift and dissolve within the liquid. At the same time, their form loses all color, gradually turning pale white as if being stripped of identity and substance alike. Sensation fades, awareness dims, and consciousness slips away as the transformation reaches its final stage.
Once fully consumed, nothing of their prior state remains. This dissolution marks the completion of the cycle, and from it, the cursed hybrid is inevitably reborn-restored to physical existence, yet entirely erased, with no memory of the fall, the waiting, or any life that came before. And yet there is a chance they may remember what happened before
