One of my favorite moments in Soli by far
"I always knew this was a possibility. This is why the veil showed itself to me, and why I decided to stay. To think Bradley, you weren't even a pebble in my shoe when that blinding gateway split the world open in front of me almost thirteen years ago. God has it been that long already? It was incredible...the most wonderous beasts and flora! cities built up to the sky and forests as dark as night! How could I not stay in this magical little world that had invited me in? This beautiful, wondrous, dying world...
The people...! Magi with stars in their eye,horns growing from their heads, and empathic hearts bare,wielding blazing fire at a thought. And the maven...like creatures out of myth,but really people! Some had hooves, some even had wings...a real siren handed me very real paperwork!
The corruption is unraveling it, killing it bit by bit...and even outsiders, wards like me, still aren't enough to replenish those its killed. But thats why I stayed, why I've devoted my life to researching this blight...its why we always go forward even knowing what waits for us beyond these doors. Right, Bradley?
So okay...time to go...and find a way to stop it!"
