im tired of the tag being flooded with posts of thirst after thirst over nicholas or lucifer or madam satan or caliban or zelda and not seeing a single post about theo and robin.
like idk if y'all realize this but,,, it was a pretty big deal the fact that robin decided to stay behind and abandon the pagans. even if he didn't agree with their actions, they were still his family and offered him power and safety, so he didn't really have to betray them. but he did, and do you know why? because of theo. because he found in theo something he didn't have with the pagans, he found love. robin wants to set roots, to belong somewhere, truly, and all of that because of theo.
now, aside from it (and they) already being cute as heck, what is of most importance to me is that theo is trans. theo is a trans gay boy who is subject of so much desire and love that caused someone to stray from their ways to be with him. it shows the trans audience watching the show that yes, you can be loved to that extend. that you, just the way you are, can find acceptance and warmth within someone who's willing to spend their days beside you. and that's a very important message to be spread in a world where the trans community is constantly belittled and harmed and seen as objects of fetish or humiliation.
i'll admit that at first, i was super excited to see a love interest for theo and how they would handle it, but the moment i knew robin was a pagan, i was so ready to throw hands if they were to break the trans kid's heart just for "the sake of drama" and those stupid queer suffering tropes tv producers always pull out. but they didn't do that! i was so relieved. and i think the way they handled it all, from theo coming out as trans to robin in the ferris wheel (and robin being super chill and sweet about it) to robin himself telling his truth to theo and building up their trust, was really good.
amongst the ups and (mostly) downs of this season, theo and robin were one of the few of the good things that happened and i hope people will give them and what they mean to our community a little more value. im looking forward to see them in part 4!
