Oh no that's horrible! Id be so upset if everything I just wrote got deleted!! Yeah plus, it's the writers book/story, if they don't want a million tiny details that's their choice, as long as the story flows well and readers can follow everything then that's what counts. As much as I like having fun, diverse characters, I kinda like the idea of leaving out those kinds of details and letting the readers create them in their head as they go. Idk if Id be able to write like that though

Same here, I have bits that I've taken out because they don't fit but I like em so I could stick them in somewhere if I wanted to. You sound like a very angry writer lol. YES THATS IT! Like I like building the characters, their personalities and whatnot but then having to do something with them is like ehhh. If you don't make the base then people are like whoa where did this come from, explain! So you need the little things that are no fun to write
Yeah and while thats annoying because now you gotta re-write the scene you just edited, it's kinda interesting to see where the rest of that scene you took out, could go. whether that be in another chapter, or hell in another book if need be.
and NO XD more like a frustrated one! the only time I get angry is if Microsoft crashes and I lose my work. then it's lie NO I JUST GOT DONE FIXING MY PARAGRAPHS AND THE DIALOGUE AHHHHHHHH.
i was working on one scene...last year i think lol and my laptop died WELL MICROSOFT DIDN'T SAVE THE CHANGE. SO ALL THAT WORK [[which took about an hour]] WAS GONE. I was very angry and I quit writing for months after that lol.
yeah, alot of readers love that "small detail" stuff. [[i rarely notice it in books in general]] so when it's missing they get all pissy and snark about "well this writer OBVIOUSLY MISSES SMALL DETAILS" and part of me just thinks "maybe they hate the small stuff and are not wanting to focus on that and prefer to skim over it instead of going into such teeny tiny details? its harder than it looks!" sometimes i wonder why I love writing so much lol. there's so much work that goes into it but...idk same time I get this insane ITCH in my hand and then next thing I know i'm going outta my mind and i gotta write something!

Exactly! I've found myself before going do i need all this detail is it really necessary, or editing it later and taking out big ol chunks because it doesn't need it. Sometimes with action scenes you just need to write it all down then go back over it to correct it so it makes sense, if you go too slowly with it that makes it harder and you'll focus too much on little things. Lol no I avoid the laying ground work at all costs sometimes!
yeah i actually have pages in a folder of mine thats scenes I wrote but later was like "i need the info but not this scene" or i'll need to take out that part of the scene cuz it's useless but it's barely even half-full LOL. Cuz sometimes I can't figure out if I need more or if I need less.
Yeah, with like....3 action scenes I wrote; I just wrote them out then went back over it again. They need fixing but it's not SO BAD that i'm going "omfg THIS IS TERRIBLE I HATE WRITING" *throws paper into a fire* . but yeah i tend to focus on all the tiny little things. drives me nuts because i wanna move onto the next part but im going "NOPE THIS SCENE STILL NEEDS FIXING!"
uhhh laying the ground work...i guess its more of...its fun to gather all the info for that? but once you start trying to weave it together, how stuff works in the world, what it's like, how the people are, where your character comes in....
all of a sudden you're goin "ITS MORE FUN TO WRITE ABOUT THIS CHARACTER AND THIS CHARACTER MEETING! LETS DO THAT INSTEAD!" but then if you don't do the ground-work much or just skim over it, people get annoyed.
I think it's been right around a year? Ish? But yeah, now i feel like I can move on from that one so it's good. YES I LOVE TREASURE PLANET OMG AND YES THERE'S MERMAIDS/SIRENS IN IT ITS GONNA BE GOOD LIKE I HAVE ALL SORTS OF RESEARCH DONE FOR IT. Im in the beginning and like writing the background stuff, getting things rolling I just don't want to write so Im always like nah we don't need to write today. I want to get to the exciting things and write those

god yes the "description" and "info" shit . i think it's why i dragged my feet for SO LONG on my first book cuz I have so mANY PARTS writen down for it that now they all gotta connect [scenes]. and it's like, in order to do that I gotta write the in-between stuff. and it's SO not fun. that and if something doesn't fit/work you gotta think "do i keep this scene or keep what happens in it but change that up and put it somewhere else?"

i'm no better at action scenes [[how write action scenes?? i can't use movies cuz its //inaccurate and the thought of watching a TON of youtube videos is not that appealing and i got like 20 diff. meta posts saved on how to write action scenes and im too lazy to do that too]] but i find it more fun when the characters interact or i get to drop "info" in a scene or something. not going "okay now i gotta describe this, i need to write why he/she is doing this and i gotta get them from this place to another place" or figure out how these two scenes go-together. or how a chapter here can relate to another chapter. tedious. writing at times is fun, other times its like "i just want to sleep"
but yeah beginning stuff, i know that frustration. you wanna jump head-first into teh story but no you gotta lay-ground work and shit. some people love that stuff, but i hate it most of the time.
