I personally think it’s really cool that they have a canonically bi guy in the cast who’s also VERY traditionally masculine, because it goes to show how you can choose to align with gender roles and still be validly queer.

Penny Dreadful rant number THIRTEEN WOOOO (back after 2 weeks) !!!

-I cannot stress enough how much I love the main group as a found family and also as a well-oiled demon-witch-killing machine. These people do NOT fuck around when you come for one of their own and it’s awesome

-Ok this whole demonic poppet brain surgery thing is freaking me out. Poor Mrs Murray has no idea what Evelyn is doing to her :(

-Vanessa coming into Ethan’s room at night and asking to leave the lights on 🥹 awww. They’re so sweet. He gives her so much grace and patience and in turn she assures him that he belongs somewhere and ow my heart

-Victor & John incel double whammy holy fuck. I will beat them both up in a back alley istg. Lily you deserve so much better. The “Do you like it?” “Victor picked it out” exchange may or may not have hacked a year off my life

-“You’re very pretty.” “So are you.” girlies I know what you arrrrre (me too lol)

-Ethan vs Scotland Yard who would win

-Wait stopppp Vanessa & John’s dance scene is so cute. As much as I dislike him, John IS a Frankencreature so I’m inclined to at least celebrate his wins, and it’s great for him to actually have a normal friendship with somebody BEFORE catching feelings

-Angelique dear, you deserve the world, your haters WILL go to hell I assure you

-Bro why is everybody in this show such a fucking horndog 💀 not even kidding my sister walked in during *that* scene as I was trying to fast forward it and I had to slam my laptop shut SO FAST dude (obligatory “I’m a minor don’t make this weird” reminder)

-Poor Mrs Murray. That might be the most fucked up death scene in the whole show so far (except Proteus, that one still haunts me at night) :( also the bullet wound in zombie Mina’s head may or may not have killed me

-Lily being afraid of the thunderstorm was so cute and then VICTOR. Ohhhh my God. Lily you deserve the world too. Funny how I’d jump in front of a train for the women of this show but when it comes to the guys I’m usually like “nahhhh fuck you you don’t deserve shit”

once again a good ep, all these repeated hits are making me increasingly nervous about when I’m gonna reach the show’s flop era

What's a series you love but don't really talk about with other people, and why?

Mine is Star Fox because it's so niche, I feel like most won't even know what I'm talking about. xD

Suuuuuper late on this ask, my apologies. Thank you tumblr for hiding it until now :').

It's not niche, but I loved Penny Dreadful (TV Show), despite the very unfinished ending. I was still pretty young when I seen it and it had an absolute chokehold on me. It's a nice introduction to understanding and sympathising with a cast of bad characters. None of them are good people, lmao, but their tragedies are heartbreaking nonetheless. The writing is particularly good and for such a limited run, the whole ensemble is remarkably fleshed out with believable backstories that somehow still manage to intertwine into one. Vanessa Ives has a very special place in heart! HUGE recommend for anyone into classic horror, gothic horror, tragedy, dark romance and poetry.

I don't often mention it as it isn't really to the tastes of anyone I know irl and there's always the fear of "oh god, what if I'm just extremely biased and this show is actually total shit?" LMAO.

I haven't heard of Star Fox, but from a quick search it sounds like a lot of fun to play! Maybe I'll try it someday.
