One can be overly excited about life while the other is fine with letting the days pass by. One can be very detailed while the other is big picture and big dreams. One is very social; the other enjoys being alone. One is overly affectionate; the other is fine with sitting at the other end of the couch as long as they're in the same room. [I'm the letting the days pass by, big picture, being alone, and sitting on the other end of the couch guy while my wife is the exact opposite.] We'd assume that opposites couldn't live together, but their union can be very healthy. They balance out one another. They are their own medicine. When one is down, the other is there to lift up. When one is weak, the other is there to provide strength. • • My wife has seen me at my best and my worst. She's helped me grow in my weak areas. She's encouraged me when I was down, loved me when my actions were detestable, and cared for me when I was too foolish to care for myself. She's my medicine. I've helped my wife through her toughest times, held her at her lowest moments, and provided wisdom when she needed it most. • • Treasure your medicine. In doing so, your marriage will become a place of healing. Confront the areas you're trying to cover up. You can't heal what you continue to cover. We need YOUR marriage to be healthy and strong.
