"I know, and Higurashi came to school too!"
"Woah the two sickest students both came back to school on the same day?! I wonder if it's an omen..."
"It is! We have a math test tomorrow!"
Kagome slumped in her desk, her lunch left untouched as she stared out the window. At first she'd been excited about getting a break to go back to school but that had quickly wilted when she realized just how far behind she'd fallen. Now she wasn't even sure she could catch up enough to pass the upcoming test.
Her friends had tried to help her but it seemed to no avail and when they paused in their conversation--something along the lines of what was buzzing in the gossip mill--she smiled and stood up.
"I'm going to go buy bread, you guys want anything?" And after they'd given their requests, she was off; happy for the distraction.
