A quiet well nestled in St Mylor churchyard, with a small gully running down to the wall and presumably out into the harbour just beyond it. The well water continues to be used in baptisms - a deliberate choice to link the current congregation with the ancient history of the church & the possible site of very early baptisms.

St Mylor cross is a massive stone cross located right outside the doors to St Mylor Church. It may have previously been a regular menhir without the cross design at the top - it would have been one of the largest in this part of Kernow at 17' 6".

The pamphlet in the church shop reckons the cross might have once stood as a disc-and-boss monolith. It has a carving on each side below the cross - one side has three concentric circles and the other has a spiral. Beneath that there are further carvings but it's hard to make out exact patterns.

I'm currently visiting my Dad who lives in Mylor, Cornwall. I love this place it's so beautiful and peaceful. It's been great to unwind and de-stress. It was very tempting to jump into the water although I suspect it would be pretty cold this time of year. The wind hasn't been great so haven't been able to go out and kayak this time. It has made me realise I need to get out and active more at home.

Visiting Porthleven was really nice as I haven't been there since I was kid. Porthleven was pretty much our go to holiday destination with my Nan and Grandad and just being there conjured images of me and my sister climbing along the rocks that was next to an old fishing shack that was in front of the holiday home that we always went to. The view of the church opposite the holiday home which always seems to be the same view of Porthleven when there is storm showing. Usually of the waves crashing across the pier swamping the church with spray.

I really should come down here more often.
