Here at myMallBox, we love people who are passionate about things. So many of our customers are enthusiastic about the things they love, whether it be makeup and beauty products, cards and collectables, electronics and entertainment, or even candles and scented wax!
The thing about about passionate people is they make things happen. Some people have even gone so far as to establish and promote special days to honor the things they care most about. Sometimes these celebrations become so popular they are recognized all across the globe! They range from silly and fun celebrations, like International Talk Like a Pirate Day, to serious and awareness-raising initiatives such as World Diabetes Day.
Somewhere in the middle (well, let’s face it, more on the silly and fun side) is International Beer Day, which is recognized on the first Friday of August! Some folks are definitely passionate about their favorite adult beverage, none more so than Beer Day founders Jesse Avshalomov and Evan Hamilton. In 2007, these Californians decided that there should be a day to recognize the undeniable importance of beer, and they convinced the owner of their local bar to promote their idea.
They made a website, set up some fun events, and had a great time.
Unexpectedly, they started receiving emails from all around the world. People from different countries and cultures shared their passion for beer, and by 2015 there were over 350 International Beer Day celebrations worldwide. The purpose of this day of celebrating all things beer is three-fold, according to the founders: first, to gather with friends and enjoy a frosty mug or two; second, to celebrate the brewers who make their favorite beverage and the servers who provide it, and third, to bring the world together by celebrating the beers of all nations and cultures.
This Friday, join Jesse and Evan in raising a glass, whether it’s a Moosehead in the Great White North, a Foster’s in the Outback, a Red Stripe in Jamaica, mon, or a Bud Light on your back porch in the old U.S. of A. So many things make us different, but simple celebrations like this bring us together and make us realize that we have a lot in common, too.
The message we should take away from this is not that beer is awesome (it is), but that we should follow our passions and work hard to make things happen. At myMallBox, our passion is making great products available to all consumers around the world. We might not be able to ship beer to your front door, but we can help you get your favorite beauty items, clothing brands, phones and electronics, books, and countless other fine products.
Tell us what you’re passionate about, and we’ll do our best to help you get the things you need to live your passions!
On June 5th, myMallBox’s very own Corrine McCormick had the opportunity to attend the 2016 Sephora Rouge Event at a local Sephora store. The event was a first access glimpse of the Fall 2016 Makeup Collections! She was able to preview new products, and she even got a makeover from one of the makeup experts on staff! We know that a lot of our customers are beauty enthusiasts, so we’ve asked Corrine to share her experience and talk about some of the brand new products that have recently become available.
“I asked for a makeover that focused on my eyes and brows,” Corrine reported. “I’ve always been unhappy with how thin my eyebrows are, and I really wanted to try out the new Benefit ka-BROW! Cream-Gel Eyebrow color.”
The makeup artist started by applying Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (original), which makes the eyeshadow color more vibrant and provides a smoother, lasting application. For the eyeshadow itself, she used Anastasia Beverly Hills Dusty Rose and Deep Purple. She then used an angled brush to line Corrine’s eyes with the same Deep Purple shade.
Next, she started work on the eyebrows, smoothly brushing in Benefit Cosmetics ka-BROW! Cream-Gel Eyebrow Color #2. To fill in sparseness and keep the brows looking refined, she followed up with the Smashbox Brow Tech Matte Pencil (Taupe).
It was not only new products that caught Corrine’s interest, but also the way the products were applied. “I learned a new technique called tightlining,” she told us. “The makeup artist showed me how to do this using the Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner by Marc Jacobs.” She went on to explain that “tightlining” is a technique that’s used to apply eyeliner to the base of the lashes in the top waterline. It fills in gaps and creates a contrast with the irises. This provides a subtle effect that defines the eyes and makes them look bigger without appearing that makeup was used at all. For those interested, more information about tightlining can be found in this informative article from the Huffington Post.
As pleased as she was with her makeover, Corrine was even more excited about the wide variety of new releases on display. “The event provided an exclusive preview of hot products being released this month,” she said. “Some exciting things that are being released included Benefit's new ka-BROW! Cream-Gel Eyebrow Color With Brush, 100 new lipstick shades and a special edition Alice Through The Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette from Urban Decay, Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit - Sun Dipped, Becca Champagne Collection, and Kat Von D's New 100% Vegan Line.”
If you are looking to get your hands on any of the new products that Corrine got to see, our Buy for Me service can help. Just let us know what you would like us to purchase, submit the link, and we’ll order it for you and have it sent to your suite in our warehouse.
We at myMallBox are happy to have the opportunity to assist you in obtaining these great products and others. Until next time, Happy shopping!

Check out what this customer had to say about myMallBox!!
My makeup collection has been blessed with some Colourpop! Oh yes, in this post I tell you all about how I managed to get my hands on some Lippie Stix and Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks in as much detail as possible. I hope this is helpful for those who have been umm’ing and aah’ing about how to ship Colourpop to the UK and if it’s worth it.
I think it’s important to note that I placed my order with my family - our package had a total of 21 items, 8 of which were my own. We decided to start out small, because we had no idea what to expect, and of course with something like this, it is a little nerve-wracking. After all, you’re paying for products and trusting a third party to release them to you safely since Colourpop do not ship to the UK (yet). If you have friends/family who are also wanting to order some Colourpop, I do recommend working as a team, as splitting up the cost of shipping and/or customs helps a lot. I used a $5 off coupon that you can get from signing up to Colourpop’s email newsletter, which also gives you free delivery within the US (that’s your ‘new’ shipping address - more on that next!).
I used a forwarding service called mymallbox, one of the many options out there. What really helped me make my choice was their free registration, free membership, free consolidation of packages, the ability to modify declared value of products, 0% sale tax, 90 days of free storage and free insurance up to $100 using DHL or USPS. If you’re a big worrier, you can also request for a photograph of your items for $1. Registration is quick and easy. Once you register, you are assigned a U.S. address at their warehouse with a unique suite number so that they know which package is yours. You shop online as usual, with the only difference being your shipping address which will be the address you are assigned. You pay as you would, most likely with a paypal account as this is more universally accepted. Then, you wait.
Mymallbox will send you an email when they have received your order, at which point you can log in and request to consolidate your package with others you may have ordered to save on shipping, or have the package shipped to you if you’re ready. You’re also notified about when your shipping label is processed, with an email confirming your shipping address.
Now, you should know that the cost of shipping really depends on the package weight and dimensions which can be a little scary. As a guideline, my 21 items came in a 10x7x3in box, weighing 1.6lb so shipping cost me £23.50. If this is too much for you, don’t be alarmed, as I did opt for DHL express (1-3 days), whilst there are other cheaper options, though they will take longer to ship to you. I was pretty happy with this because after adding up the total of initial product cost, shipping and customs and dividing that by the number of items I purchased, it turned out that I paid approximately £3.70 for each lip product - bargain!? This is why I recommend ordering with someone else/as a group! Below is a screenshot of the other options that were available based on my location, package weight and dimensions:
The customer service was amazing, and I had communication via email where staff responded the next working day so I felt at ease throughout the process. The website is also very user-friendly. If you want to ask quick questions, I recommend contacting them on Twitter!
So how long did this whole thing take? I placed my Colourpop order on June 9 and it arrived at mymallbox at June 16. My eager self logged in straight away to pay for shipping and the next day, it was on its way! On June 20, everything arrived at my doorstep safe and sound. As you can see, the longest wait was between Colourpop and mymallbox.
If you’re interested in signing up (it’s free!), you can receive $5 in your account immediately to help with the cost of shipping or other services within mymallbox by using my referral code A8158 or through http://www.mymallbox.com/referrals/A8158. This post is not sponsored, as all customers obtain their own referral code, so you too can invite your friends to join. What do I get out of this? Well, I will receive $5 from mymallbox in my account just like you, but only if you use their service to ship your first package. It’s a win-win situation, not costing either of us anything. If my post helped you make the decision to sign up, I would greatly appreciate this as a thanks :)
Would I order again? Most definitely. I’m already creating a wish list of some more shades of the liquid lipsticks! For those interested in exactly what we ordered with a review on the products, see the link below.
