Nadie necesita decirte cómo sentirte por ser un fan

No hay momento más vulnerable en una persona, que aquel en el que sus emociones han sido trastocadas.

Por estos días, este fandom está demasiado movilizado, sensible, y en consecuencia, muy abierto a escuchar e internalizar, cualquier argumento que cuadre con el estado de ánimo que tienen, pero además, aceptar los paños de agua fría (es un dicho latinoamericano) que les entreguen, para calmar los ánimos.

Y es.precisamente este momento, en el que 3 blogueros, presentando sus argumentos, han aparecido de forma repentina, con una escritura muy florida, un discurso convincente, y bastante palabrerio, para mostrarnos sus pensamientos (aparentemente muy objetivos) respecto a todos los temas que se han venido discutiendo desde hace 2 meses.

Desde la lectura inicial, del primer blog que apareció, algo me pareció extraño, pues identifiqué (llevo más de 20 años, analizando discursos) un nivel de manipulación muy elevado, de ese que es aplicado por profesionales que entienden cómo funciona la mente y las emociones, en entornos caóticos. Una alarma se encendió, y decidí mantenerme leyendo, para validar mis sospechas. Valga decir que no creo que ese blog en particular, esté siendo redactado por IA, sí que puede estar utilizándola para optimizar lo que quiere decir, pero hay un cerebro bien humano, allí (la prueba está en el momento exacto en el que estableció una posición, ya que no fue una mera respuesta a una pregunta anónima, fue una declaración abierta de: a mí no me metan en ese saco)

Su conducta posterior, respecto a sus posteos, confirma que era bien humano el que estaba por detrás, pues apenas se destapó lo que quería mantener oculto, dejó de publicar, y su último posteo (o por lo menos el que yo vi), fue perfecto para ponerle la guinda a sus intenciones: socavar la imagen de Sam, pero no como lo han hecho otros blogs, sino de la forma más solapada.

La confusión no la tienes tú como fanático de Outlander, de Sam, de Jamie Fraser, de Sam/Cait; la confusión la estaba implementado el blog, a través de su discurso, con el que pretendía que te sintieras identificado con cualquiera de sus argumentos, los cuales todos llevaban a que "intentaras descubrir por ti mismo", que apoyar a Sam, mantenerte consumiendo su contenido, sus productos, su imagen, no valía la pena.

Para que llegaras a esa conclusión, utilizó argumentos morales, de "análisis conductual en periodos de tiempo específicos", insinuaciones planteadas por el mismo fandom analizándolas bajo una perspectiva de lógica y sentido común, también aludió a tu inteligencia y capacidad para idenrificar intuitivamente, que algo no estaba bien (habiendo planteado él mismo, previamente, lo que no estaba bien), te hizo cuestionarte el porqué seguias perteneciendo al fandom, pero sólo después de sembrar suficiente sentimiento de culpa por seguir aquí, y hacerte lucir tonto, por hacerlo, por lo que rápidamente, te movilizó a desmarcarte de quienes "aún no se habían dado cuenta de las macabras intenciones que hay detrás del hombre"

La forma en la que te manejas como fanático, es absolutamente personal, y nadie debería creerse con la potestad de poder influir en ello, ya que ser fan pasa por tener emociones muy intensas respecto a algo, que a veces podrían hacerte parecer irracional a los ojos de personas que no están en tu misma onda, y es por ello que cuando muchos fanáticos en torno a algo, nos juntarnos, nos sentimos en onda. Esta persona intentó, todo el tiempo, hacerte sentir mal por eso, y allí está su top de manipulación. No voy a hablar de las intenciones que tenía, porque las desconozco, y cualquier cosa que diga, es una especulación, pero lo ciento es que sus intenciones no eran buenas, ni altruistas, ni positivas. Y me alegro muchisimo que te dieras cuenta.

A estas alturas del partido, creo que intentar socavar la imagen de cualquiera de ellos, es una tarea absurda, y más allá de la idea generalizada de que "no hace falta que nadie trate de socavar esa imagen, porque ellos mismos lo han hecho", siempre me recuerdo que ellos (Sam/Cait) son personas como nosotros, y no los personajes que caracterizan. Hacer esa separación siempre me ayudó a no perder la cabeza por las cosas que hacen en sus vidas privadas, porque sé y acepto que mi obsesión es por Outlander, y que como adoro a Sam y Cait por ser los perfectos Jamie y Claire, aquí estoy para apoyarlos en sus múltiples proyectos, y siempre, siempre, siempre, estaré agradecida porque honraron a esos personajes, de una forma que nadie más pudo hacerlo. Creo absolutamente en que las estrellas se alinearon cuando ellos se conocieron, y la magia que ellos le aportaron a Jamie y a Claire, al caracterizar en pantalla, cosas que para Diana eran imposibles de escribir, pero que se intuian, los hacen dos actores imposibles de igualar en cuanto a la compenetración, química, y entrega a un rol. Todos los que les cuestionan al respecto, es probable que no se hayan leído los libros, y si lo hicieron, y aún así, los cuestionan, tiene que ver más con purismo y gustos particulares, no con que ellos no hayan logrado traer a la vida, al Jamie y Claire que todos soñamos.

Nobody needs to tell you how to feel about being a fan

There is no moment more vulnerable for a person than when their emotions have been shaken.

These days, this fandom is highly mobilized, sensitive, and consequently, very open to listening to and internalizing any argument that aligns with their current state of mind. Furthermore, they are willing to accept any reassuring words (a Latin American expression) offered to calm their nerves.

And it is precisely at this moment that three bloggers, presenting their arguments, have suddenly appeared, with very flowery writing, a convincing discourse, and quite a lot of verbiage, to show us their (seemingly very objective) thoughts on all the topics that have been discussed for the past two months.

From the initial reading of the first blog that appeared, something seemed strange to me, as I identified a very high level of manipulation (I have over 20 years of experience analyzing speeches), the kind applied by professionals who understand how the mind and emotions work in chaotic environments. An alarm bell went off, and I decided to keep reading to validate my suspicions. It's worth saying that I don't believe that this particular blog is being written by AI; it may be using it to optimize what it wants to say, but there is a very human mind there (the proof is in the exact moment when it established a position, since it wasn't a mere response to an anonymous question, it was an open declaration of: don't lump me in with that).

His subsequent behavior, regarding his posts, confirms that the person behind it was indeed human, because as soon as what he wanted to keep hidden was revealed, he stopped posting, and his last post (or at least the one I saw) was perfect for putting the finishing touch on his intentions: to undermine Sam's image, but not in the way other blogs have done, rather in the most subtle way.

The confusion isn't yours as a fan of Outlander, of Sam, of Jamie Fraser, of Sam/Cait; the confusion was being instilled by the blog itself, through its discourse, which aimed to make you identify with any of its arguments, all of which led you to "try to figure it out for yourself" that supporting Sam, continuing to consume his content, his products, his image, wasn't worth it.

To get you to that conclusion, he used moral arguments, "behavioral analysis over specific time periods," insinuations made by the fandom itself, analyzing them from a perspective of logic and common sense. He also alluded to your intelligence and ability to intuitively identify that something wasn't right (having previously stated what was wrong himself). He made you question why you still belonged to the fandom, but only after instilling enough guilt for still being there and making you look foolish for doing so. He quickly motivated you to distance yourself from those who "hadn't yet realized the macabre intentions behind the man."

The way you handle yourself as a fan is entirely personal, and no one should think they have the right to influence it. Being a fan involves having very intense emotions about something, which can sometimes make you seem irrational to people who aren't on the same wavelength. That's why when many fans get together around something, we feel connected. This person tried, the whole time, to make you feel bad about that, and that's their prime example of manipulation. I'm not going to talk about their intentions because I don't know them, and anything I say would be speculation, but I'm certain their intentions weren't good, altruistic, or positive. And I'm so glad you realized it.

At this point, I think trying to undermine either of their images is a pointless task, and beyond the widespread notion that "no one needs to try to undermine that image because they've done it themselves," I always remind myself that they (Sam/Cait) are people just like us, not the characters they portray. Making that distinction has always helped me not to lose my mind over the things they do in their private lives, because I know and accept that my obsession is with Outlander, and because I adore Sam and Caitlyn for being the perfect Jamie and Claire, I'm here to support them in their many projects, and I will always, always, always be grateful because they honored those characters in a way that no one else could. I absolutely believe that the stars aligned when they met, and the magic they brought to Jamie and Claire, portraying on screen things that Diana couldn't possibly write but could be intuited, makes them two actors impossible to match in terms of their connection, chemistry, and dedication to a role. Anyone who questions them about it probably hasn't read the books, and if they have, and still question them, it has more to do with purism and personal tastes, not with them failing to bring to life the Jamie and Claire we all dream of.
