Bailey/HRT update: 8/11/2015
The good news: I'm super healthy and my doctor is writing my letter of recommendation as I type this. She says that since I am not cigarette free a start goal date for estrogen is December😄 Happy Birthday🎂 and Merry Christmas🎄to me❤ The upsetting news: I present as Bailey at my Dr. Appointment. My Dr. Says her #1 goal is to support my transition and make it possible. She uses she/her pronouns even though I didn't request it, and even writes Bailey on my appointment cards. It's all good. Despite that, the guy at the check-in desk misgendered me twice, called me by my family name twice, and then wrote the formal version of my family name (Which no one except my dead grandmother was ever allowed to call me) on my appointment card, even tHough my Dr. had written Bailey in big letters at the top of my discharge sheet and my chart clearly shows my preferred name. ( I'm even listed as Transgender in the intake notes on my chart) So now despite all the good news, I get to stare at the wrong name on a card for the next 6 weeks. Does this person know the kind of mind fuck the wrong name can cause someone with gender dysphoria?
