On this special day and during the holiday season I can look back and remember the special angels who have made their journey Home. It never really gets any easier, especially during the holidays when thinking back on all those special souls who have touched my life is such a profound way with their unconditional love and their dedication to life. I am so proud to be have been able to be a part of each of their lives and I am so blessed to be called their dog dad. The love I share with them and the journey we have taken together is something I treasure every day of my life. I am so very happy I get to walk my journey of life with so many paw prints 🐾👣🐾 around mine. Mavis, Tappy, Maggie, Bebe, Bitsy, Itsy, Gravey, Maui, Fefe and the countless angels I have shared my life with, I miss you always. Most of my rescues are seniors, special needs, abused, abandoned or hospice pups. They have seen dark days in their lives, but I give them a safe place I like to call Home. ⁣Hi, my name is Missie. My dad adopted Me from Second Chance Dog Rescue in Baton Rouge, LA almost two years ago. I was found all alone on a rural country road. I probably came from a puppy mill where I had so many puppies that I had two large hernias that had to be removed with surgery. I had lost most of my teeth, suffered from severe advanced heart worm disease. I was so skinny and near death it was thought I would not make it, but I had so many angels and an awesome vet with Second Chance Dog Rescue. They all saved me and brought me back to health. When dad adopted me and brought me to my happy ever after forever home it took me a long time to trust again, but now I love to always cuddle up next to my daddy. I love to relax all day and sit outside in the warm rays of the sun. Because I was abandoned and left alone on the side of the road I tend to scavenge for food outside, but I’m getting better cause dad feeds me the bestest food ever. I can be a little grumpy and bossy at times, but dad says I am the Alpha of our pack so I have to keep everyone in line. ⁣Hi, my name is Ejeb. My dad adopted Me from our Vet in Lafayette, LA 5 years ago. I was a senior when dad brought me to my happy ever after forever home. I was found by a wonderful vet tech wondering the streets all alone. I was very skinny and my teeth were very bad, but everyone took care of me at Broussard Veterinary Clinic. I love to relax all day and explore outside in our big backyard. Because I was abandoned and left on the streets I do suffer from separation anxiety. I always follow daddy around and I don’t like for him to be out of my sight. I am so very happy for all of my brothers and sisters so when daddy has to leave for work I know I’m never alone. I am the oldest out of our pack and I am the alarm to let everyone know when daddy has to leave or when he returns home. Yesterday I went to a craft store looking for material to make blankets for shelters. A sweet lady asked me what I was going to be making. After I explained my project, she started asking me questions about dogs. She started telling me of a neighbor’s dog and how he is always crying and seems so depressed. She asked me, “do you think dogs get depressed? The poor dog seems so sad and depressed.” I said yes they suffer just like we do. They feel sadness and suffer from anxiety and pain. I said, they know unconditional love and they crave it and need attention just like any one of us. It was a heart breaking conversation, but I’m glad it happen because I reached someone and it was eye opening for her. This is why we have to be ambassadors of awareness and be a voice for those that aren’t always understood.
