We have not touched the stars,
nor are we forgiven, which brings us back
to the hero’s shoulders and the gentleness that comes,
not from the absence of violence, but despite
the abundance of it.
{ jayme lawson + nine and twenty + female + she/her } welcome to westeros MYRANDA OF HOUSE ARRYN OF THE EYRIE! it is quite well known that they are PERCEPTIVE and COMPASSIONATE, though behind closed doors the people whisper that they are also OVERZEALOUS and AUDACIOUS. whenever i think of them, i am reminded of snowdrops blooming from under ice, dying and being reborn over and over like the moon, winds constantly howling in your ears and your heart and your mind, finding beauty in a world where there should be none left, vines twisting around your body in an embrace you are desperate to escape. may they prove their worth in the game of thrones.

as a babe and a child, myranda had never been known to allow much fussing around her. she would lie awake at night crying at being within the same bed as her mother, only resting when she was placed blissfully alone in her cot. the hugs and kisses toddlers are usually doted on with were nasty and horrid, and she would sooner bite the perpetrator than let someone ruffle the hair on her little head.
at the tender age of eight, myranda is sent to be fostered in the north. a girl born of mountain men and women is more than capable of holding her own among wind and snow. she makes friends easily as while while she values her independence greatly, she is not an unkind girl. unfortunately, she is the opposite. she likes to help those she is attached to, and sometimes the aid comes with consequences due to her overzealous nature.
at five and ten, she returns home, feeling practically a stranger, struggling to prove herself perfectly capable, no longer a little girl, under the watchful eyes of her parents and her older siblings.
at six and ten, her lady in waiting confides in her of a man, myranda's own father's guest, who is getting closer and closer to her, and whom she fears telling off lest she suffer retribution. six and ten, with the mindset of a stubborn teenager who will not allow any close to her to have to endure suffering if she has a say in it, myranda plans the man's death with a single minded determination.
her friend is forever sworn to secrecy, lest she wish to meet the same fate, and myranda spends years covering up the murder. she seems to accidentally gather a good reputation, other ladies from within the vale wishing to make her acquaintance and befriend her. on she and her friend and a dead man know the truth, but the determination in her eyes at a successful plan draws many near, making them brush aside any accidentally odd thoughts or convictions she may have.
at seven and twenty, when the rebellion finally takes off and a war is started, myranda finds herself relegated to remaining in the vale, tasked with planning strategy to defend it from anyone wishing to take advantage of the chaos of war. it is hard work, most of all because she had longed to be out with her older siblings, in a battle she was never properly trained to fight in.
the cause is just, she would say, he was a monster and we should end him. but nevertheless, she remained home, waiting desperately for news of a war won.
she still waits. orys baratheon is dead. her own father is dead. she is restless, and spends a significant amount of time trying to convince her older siblings that they cannot remain silent and let the targaryen rule to go on as if nothing had happened, as if the rebels' losses were merely a miniscule blemish on history.
she schemes, or tries to, and hopes that she will receive another chance to overthrow the targaryen tyrants.
