the senses coating my lungs
until i evolve higher and higher
what reverberates through my nerves
and spills through my blood
memories of what i used to be
innocence pricked with fangs
juice dripping in ribbons
shaking blood away from my hands
and everything again is ribbons
on the outside of my flesh
mirrored against brittle bones
and i fear where i will float
liquid, seeping through cells
ghosts vibrating through my skull
biting their own lips in anticipation
of ascension -- naked, without wings
left to hover near the ground without learning to fly
and swallow up our questions
