PROMPT : Design a template for the inside of the Myriad 2019 Creative Arts Journal.

Here is my third version of my template for the inside of the Art Journal. For me, the point of this class has always been to expand my portfolio and try something new.

I am using vertical lines, similar to what I have on my final cover design. I still personally prefer having the title at the bottom of the page, for multiple reasons. A large part of it is yes, it’s very different and unusual. which is what I wanted to do in this class in the first place. But mainly, so that people get to read/see the content before getting ideas about it based on the title.

PROMPT : Design a template for the inside of the Myriad 2019 Creative Arts Journal.

Here is my second attempt at a template for the inside of the Art Journal. For me, the point of this class has always been to expand my portfolio and try something new.

Here, I’m trying to incorporate the lines that go past the past the pages, as seen in my final cover design. There I had vertical lines going up and down the page, but it didn’t seem as fitting to do that here in the gutter. So I tried horizontal lines instead.

PROMPT : Design a template for the inside of the Myriad 2019 Creative Arts Journal. 

Here is my first (non-exercise) attempt at a template for the inside of the Art Journal. For me, the point of this class has always been to expand my portfolio and try something new.

So, I’m experimenting with placing the titles at the bottom. This is because I feel that sometimes, reading the title first gives a conceived idea of what the poem/artwork/story is about.

PROMPT : Produce a book cover design for a college Art Journal.

Here is my final version that I’m submitting to be considered as the Myriad 2019 cover. I only made minor adjustments since my last version. Mainly, lightening the photos so it’s a little closer to Living Coral than red, and blurring out the photos a little more.

PROMPT : Produce a book cover design for a college Art Journal.

Here is my third round of digital roughs. Personally, I do still like the sheer simplicity of the plain color one. However, having the photos in it is also growing on me.

This time, all the photos included do belong to me. Given the time constraint (and my upcoming wedding preparations), I didn’t quite have time to take new photos. Luckily though, I love taking landscape photos and posting them on Instagram, so I had plenty to choose from.

I definitely prefer the design on the left. The curves add, well, curves, and an organic feel that’s contrasting the sans serif type that I chose.

Here are my thumbnails for the Myriad 2019 Cover. Each quadrant is its own design (Back on the left, and Front on right).

Similar to the Myriad flyers I designed, I experimented with typographic and/or minimalistic styles.

PROMPT : “ Design a letter size flyer to invite students to contribute to the Myriad, ECC Journal for the Arts  “

These are my roughs for the Myriad Flyer project. 

After some feedback from class, they’ve decided that the most eye-catching design is the wi-fi/target one (top right). I personally preferred the more modern and minimalistic design (bottom right), but it was pointed out that it might be too sophisticated for what it’s intended for.
