It was kind of late in the day and Vincent had been on his way home from work when he decided he'd rather stop at the gas station that night rather than wait and have to do it in the morning on his way to work.
The officer had already filled up his truck, now making his way through the gas station. Because he was off duty, he was wearing his normal everyday clothes as he walked down the aisles. He bumped into a boy, not paying it much attention, apologizing politely as he kept going.
“Do you have change for the vending machine?” Vincent heard coming from his right as he reached the end of one of the aisles. He turned and saw a teenage girl and he smiled politely. "Yeah, of course." He smiled, reaching for his wallet. But it wasn't there.
That's when it clicked. When he bumped into the boy a few moments ago, he had to have gotten his wallet without Vincent realizing it. "Oh shit." He said softly before looking back up to the girl. "I'm sorry I can't help you." He turned and ran out of the gas station, looking around for a moment before spotting the boy he'd bumped into, by some chance walking in the direction of his truck. He ran up without speaking to avoid spooking the boy.
Once he was close enough, Vincent called. "Hey!" He exclaimed, grasping the boy by the shoulder, spinning him around, and pushing up back against the side of his truck. He looked down, seeing his wallet in the boy's hand. He reached for it, snatching it out of the boy's hand as he towered over him. "I think this is mine." He raised a brow, opening it and seeing his license. "Well well… would you look at that?" The man smirked, shaking his head.
