‘Send Me a ♒’ Meme – #22
Early Morning
Adachi stretched his legs out as he sat on a wooden bench, busily munching on a breakfast sandwich he’d bought from Junes the night before. The detective idly watched as several students made their way to Yasogami High School, more interested in his food than a bunch of teenagers–until he caught sight of Dojima’s nephew, Seta, who was walking alongside the now former idol, Risette. Adachi paused mid-chew, staring as the two passed by (neither one seemed to notice his presence); the girl was hugging onto Seta’s arm and nudging into him, which he appeared to be tolerating. Once they had left, the detective shrugged to himself and continued eating.
Afternoon
Adachi shuffled down the aisles of Junes’ grocery department with his hands in his pockets, browsing the produce with disinterest. A strange-sounding laugh (it was like a cross between a snort and a chortle–a snortle?) snapped the detective out of his stupor, and he peered over at the spice aisle to identify the source. What he found was Dojima’s nephew–again–only this time he was with Yukiko Amagi, who’d just recovered from her fit. Who would have thought the Amagi heiress would have such an unrefined laugh? Adachi continued watching them, scratching his head when he noticed how close they were; before he could question it, the detective heard an all too familiar, “Tohru-chan, is that you?” and sprinted towards the nearest exit.
Evening
Adachi yawned, expelling a small cloud that dissipated into the cool night air. He’d waited too long to order dinner from any of the businesses in the Shopping District, and he’d fled from Junes before he could actually buy anything, which left him with two options: he could try his luck goading a free meal out of Dojima, or just go home and eat a cup of noodles. While the detective debated his choice, he noticed two figures appear further down the District; upon closer inspection, one was Seta–what were the odds?–and the other was a girl, one Adachi didn’t recognize. They stopped in front of one of the shops, and the girl leaned into Seta. Was she giving him a kiss? Adachi couldn’t tell from this distance, but what else could they be doing?
The coupled parted ways, with Dojima’s nephew continuing down the street towards Adachi. He must not have noticed the detective, because when Adachi jumped in front of him, the boy looked surprised–or what passed for ‘surprised’ when it came to Seta and his usually stoic face, anyway.
“How many girlfriends do you have?!”
