How Myr tells Dris to shut up…
Freisha And Rhudan
Embers burned deep into the hearth as Frisha rocked two of her five children to sleep. She could hear her husband settling down the animals for the night. Carefully she lowered the sleeping children into their cots, kissing each on the forehead before pulling across the wool blanket that separated their bedroom from the rest of the small cottage.
“The dogs won't settle, I think there must be some one in the woods hunting, poacher no doubt” Ruhdan grumbled as he pulled off his boots and threw snow all over the floor.
“It’s nothing, come here” Frisha gestured to the seat by the fire, as she stirred soup.
Ruhdan stood to take of his cloak and and place it on the hook behind the door when the dogs began to howl, he reached for the handle as the door swung open and three dark figures burst into their home.
“Where are they” a tall man with dark hair grunted.
Shaking Frisha tried block the men from her children, screaming at her husband for help.
“Take them, take them Ruhdan, please take them.”
As Ruhdan rushed forward to stand between his wife and the intruders he was struck on the side of the head with the hilt of sword and fell into blackness.
“Ruhdan! Ruh, wake up.. please....No, No you can't. Please you can't.”
A second figure stood forward, removing a cloak and hood to reveal a withered old women with grey hair and yellowing skin.
“Give me the children. You should have known this would happen. Stand aside” she cackled
Out of the shadows the forth figure stood forward. From his belt he pulled a tiny dagger, like the kind used to gut fish and in one swift movement threw it across the room and struck Freisha in the chest.“We will take the children, and fetch a good price no less.” Myrrak said stepping over Ruhdan's motionless body.
“Or maybe I shall keep her for myself, if she grows up to be half as pretty as her mother” he said picking up the only female child Morrigan as Freisha bled furiously on the floor. Myrrak struck her once more in the stomach with his boot and walked out of the house, leading the others with him, each carrying two of the boys and as the fire flickered out, so did Freisha.
The wind howled angrily as the three rode away th Cerrid forest towards Verran's Herrguard. The sound of the dogs barking fading as the gained speed and into the centre of a storm, the trees whipping the riders brutally and striking the horses. And on top of the hill, under a cloak of green He wept, turning his back on both the riders and the gales he trudged back into the Cerrid's undergrowth as the trees and bushes closed in behind him.
