Stan, Babe and Myrtle in Edinburgh, July 1932
Stan, Babe and Myrtle were met by Arthur Jefferson (Stan’s dad) and his wife Venetia in Southampton on July 23, 1932. The travelling trio was expecting a few weeks’ holiday with some public appearances but had underestimated Laurel and Hardy’s popularity. So even though Babe did have a chance to golf in Scotland and Stan got to meet family and friends, sightseeing in peace proved impossible, and the planned tour of several European cities was cancelled after a trip to Paris.
