Rebellious since childhood, Athena was never fond of her father or the strict, controlling upbringing he provided. As soon as she was old enough to fly a plane on her own, Athena formed a renegade crew of pilots with her childhood friends - Raphael and Rose - and ran away from home. Not long after, Sventlana and Dragomir joined their ranks. And thus, the Chaos Pirates were born: pilot bounty hunters who value freedom above all else. For the next few years, the five pilots spent their days chasing whatever bounty they could get their hands on, or roaming the skies while enjoying their freedom.
But that all came crashing down when Morcubus found their secret base and offered a 'deal' to Athena. If the Chaos Pirates agreed to work for MorcuCorp, they'd be paid handsomely and would be given guaranteed free roaming of the skies when Morcubus takes over. If Athena refused, he'd see to it that either her crew were taken into custody or shot out of the skies. Afraid for the well-being of her team, Athena begrudgingly accepted.
Working for her father made her miserable, but she kept up a confident facade for the sake of her crew/friends. While Dragomir and Sventlana seemed to thrive working under Morcubus, Athena could tell Raphael and Rose weren't as ecstatic about the situation and were only staying because of their loyalty to her. (That and the fact Athena and Raphael had a massive crush on each other but were both too chicken to admit it).
After being tasked to locate the base of SkyForce, Athena was shot down by Justice and crash landed on a beach, fading in and out of consciousness before being found by Derek and Selena. Suffering a case of amnesia as a result of the crash, Athena struggles to remember anything from her past. Only that the blue scarf she wears around her neck means a lot to her and reminds her of...someone...
