2017, week 3. The theme for this week was ships, and no one thought this was funny but me, which was pretty typical then and now. At this point Destiel was just starting to become a thing and the fan camps were starting to form, so being around any of it at that time felt a lot like this.
I love mashups, and it was much more common in my work at this time, and I loved the idea of putting these two things together. I doubt it needs explaining, but the context is from the episode of Spongebob wherein Squidward is shrunken down, and Patrick is holding him and a pickle and keeps saying "now kiss!" making them kiss. It was more well-know at the time, and with Destiel emerging, this immediately came to mind.
I left the Spongebob image in its original state, and tried to match it by drawing the cartoon Cas and Dean as close to the Spongebob style while keeping them as recognizable as possible. This was the first time I'd really done anything in a cartoon style, so it always seemed in one way or another, I was doing something with these challenges that I'd never done before. So remember kids, even if you make things that people hate, you can still end up getting a useful set of skills out of the deal.
