hey, long time no see.

i hope you’re all safe. i hope you’re all doing as well as you can. i never intended for this blog to die, and in a way it never will, because i’ll never delete it, or officially close it, and if the mood strikes me i want to keep the option open to post, but i have had to prioritize my health over the past few years and found that actually, the GIFs were making my chronic migraine significantly worse. i’ve focused a lot on my personal work in the meantime, trying to take care of myself and my mental and physical health, pursuing my art career, and taking a step back from fandom involvement. i put off making this post for so long because i always wanted to get better and come back, but unfortunately that’s not how disability works. i still love rhett and link and watch every episode and enjoy their incredible work, have loved learning more about them as people, have loved their newfound freedom, but i can’t really find it in me to make the blog content and manage the playlists the way i used to. if, for any reason you want to keep up with me personally, my twitter is lovelylandfill and i’m active over there.

starting this blog in 2013 gave me a reason to keep going in the darkest time of my life. i will always, always be thankful for everything it gave me, for every part of this community and how welcomed and appreciated i felt as a part of it. i will always be a mythical beast. i will always do my mythical best. thank you for everything.

whiny mod post re: tour of mythicality and the apparent curse i’m under

guys, i gotta be straight with you, i’m really annoyed. first, when my sister and i went to see the tour of mythicality live, the seats we paid for turned out to be standing room only, so my disabled ass collapsed on the floor halfway through the show and i had to leave before the q+a. then, when the livestream was announced, i got a ticket to that to see everything i’d missed, and the stream was a glitchy mess with barely any audio for the first half. now, when i contact customer support to see the replay, i’m told that it has been taken down because it would only be available until 10PM PST november 9th an hour and a half before 10 PM PST november 9th. Cleeng is blaming Mythical Entertainment and I just want to actually FINALLY get what I paid for. they should have sent a VOD coupon to every single customer that paid for that garbage stream. has anyone actually successfully watched the VOD?

y’all i have been so swamped with work for the past few weeks, and for the next few weeks. updates might be even slower than normal, as you might have noticed. i have a few really big opportunities coming up so i need to go whole-hog into working toward those for a little while. i’m not leaving here, though. as crappy as i have become, i cannot leave my mythical beast fold ;)

excuses & misery modpost

y’all i am so so sorry about the lack of posts over on the main blog for the past few weeks. i have been in con-prep hell for the past month. as you might know, my source of income is my art sales, and my bread and butter is the convention circuit--i have been painting and doll-making like crazy in preparation for a few sales i have coming up and i have to focus on work, even when maybe i’d rather be focusing on GMM and de-stressing. i’m struggling to find a way to express what’s going on that isn’t TMI but like, literally everything that COULD be going wrong right now feels like it is. i try not to bring that here too much, but i feel like i owe you guys an explanation, because i’ve been literally the worst blogger on earth this month. my posts have been spotty for a year or so but this is honestly the worst it’s ever been. i am disabled and it is really really really holding me back these days, physically and mentally, and so i have to budget what i do with my very few moments of manageable pain. (i haven’t been pain-free in months and it’s really wrecking me.) i promise i will be back in the swing of things soon, but for now i have to try to do as much work as possible with the very, very few spoons i have.

weird october update

hey folks--i’m not going to be able to post a lot gif-wise for the rest of the month because of a family trip, and i’m going to be doing sort of an art-bomb during that time so i’m spending this week making all of the art for it. i’ll try to get some gifs up of episode 1000, because that’s going to be something for the ages, i have a feeling, but hopefully this week without many gifs will be worth it for a two-week art special while i’m trapped in a hotel room with my family.

vacation modpost

yo guys, i’m going to be in atlantic city vending at a convention this weekend, but because i have SO MUCH to do leading up to that, i’m going to be away from this blog for the rest of the week. updates should resume again on tuesday, june 14th. i will be reachable but not able to make GIFs.

unfortunately, this means i will be away on this blog’s third anniversary, and so i won’t be able to buy my customary whole entire birthday cake. i will, however, throw a bunch of old posts into the queue from the Beginning of Time, and also a few things from my drafts that have never seen the light of day.

i wasn’t going to post this on my main blog but it has been literally eating at me all day and i figure maybe i do have to post something.

today’s episode (6 most bizarre kids books) left a major bad taste in my mouth. two of those books were for children going through trauma--i know to those unaccustomed to it they might seem bizarre, but books like “the night daddy went to jail” and “i wish daddy didn’t drink so much” are written for children coping with big deal issues. (”i wish daddy didn’t drink so much” hits very extremely close to home for me and as such i was really bummed to see it appear on GMM, especially since they physically had a copy of the book.) these aren’t books that you read at story time to a whole group of kindergartners; they exist for kids whose families are going through horrible things. they exist to try desperately to contextualize and make sense of very big issues for kids who are particularly vulnerable in such situations.

i know pages of “i wish daddy didn’t drink so much” went viral on tumblr a little while ago, because to people who didn’t grow up with an alcoholic parent, it seems very absurd. unfortunately i don’t really get the option to think it’s funny.

i will continue to believe in and support rhett and link and gmm because they are a genuine good thing on this earth, but i had to say something about today’s episode.
