myth moodboard → medea
‘I would rather stand three times with a shield in battle than give birth once.’
Medea was a sorceress, a princess from Colchis (a “barbaric” eastern kingdom), and a murderer. She helped Jason of the Argonauts retrieve the Golden Fleece and later married him. Medea killed her brother so she could escape with Jason and Jason’s uncle so Jason could claim his throne in Iolcos. However the two were exiled and fled to Corinth, where Jason betrayed Medea and married the princess of Corinth. Enraged, Media killed the princess and king of Corinth and then her kids to punish Jason.
