E here! I guess so folks have been nudging me after I mentioned the whole DNA erased thing when remarking about the request of Tera/Aria. That is an actual thing that occurs here, either by choice or not.
Reformation is a common occurrence here because sometimes folks like to get a lil' risky with play and sometimes it's not as pleasant. Thankfully it's extremely easy and cheap to just reform someone or thing as long as you have that base code.
Tera/Aria do have a base code but it's specifically just as they are now, all previous remnants were erased so if they ever needed reformation it would revent them to how they are now.
While it's cheap and easy there are major risk factors in our world, mainly feral rubbermon. They tend to be extremely corruptive and run off simple instincts. That risk they pose? Those are called "Tar shots", similar to an owl pellet where they naturally coat and bundle up anything their bodies couldn't process.
The problem however is the fact that they leech everything possible from things like bone before those get bundled, resulting in the bone soaking in the excess material of the predator's "tar" and corrupting the base code and forcing them into a minion based form to the predator that produced it.
You could pay to get your code saved but that's highly costly and most folks avoid it like an extended warranty. So most of the time, if someone or something winds up as a "Tar shot" there's at least a check to see if they were coded for reformation despite complications and then at least heavy editing during the process to bring them back to some semblance of what they used to be at least mentally.
Just uh... Remember that if you re-encounter the predator that did that to you, you're very liable to be enthralled to working under it through its own use of specialized pheromones, feral rubbermon tend to form colonies and are usually avoided in the wilderness to prevent more accidents.
