The reaction of Níobe after what happened in episode 13

When she found out everything about the potion and what they were planning to do, she got angry, but the anger was quickly replaced with sadness. She felt hurt and sad because they didn’t tell her, and she also felt like all her thoughts about them not caring for her and even thinking that she was a pain in the ass were true. So when she went to the Alchemy room (after calming herself and putting on a mask of indifference), she told Nevra that she knew everything, that she wasn’t going to drink the potion, and was willing to leave the Eel Guard, and therefore taking away all the risks she represented. She was definitely going to miss them, and also thought that the Eel Guard was the most safe place for her in Eldarya. She also thought that the possibilities of her returning home were going to decreased. But she didn’t want her familiy and friends to forget her, specially her mother. So after telling Nevra all of this (not the part about missing them, etc), she proceed to leave the room. But he caught her arm and didn’t let go. Then, with a sad expression in his face, kissed her. Níobe, astute as she is, tried to resist and push him away. But finally, the potion got into her mouth. Níobe, after tasting the potion, looked at him with the most painful expression for a few seconds, breaking her mask, and then she ran away to her bedroom. And I leave it here ^^

93. Níobe e Latona

Mesmo conhecendo o destino fatal de Aracne, Níobe não se coibiu de competir com os deuses. O seu maior orgulho e riqueza eram os filhos: sete homens e sete mulheres. Numa oferenda em honra da deusa Latona, chega Níobe e, altiva e arrogante, proíbe a homenagem feita à deusa, dizendo ser imerecida pois Latona apenas teve dois filhos, enquanto ela é e será sempre afortunada: “Os meus bens passaram além de qualquer receio. Imaginai que parte desta multidão de filhos até me possa ser tirada: mesmo que tirem algo, jamais serei reduzida à soma de dois, a chusma de Latona” A deusa, indignada, ordena aos seus dois filhos (Apolo e Diana) que matem os filhos de Níobe. Primeiro matam os sete filhos. O pai deles (Anfíon) suicida-se de desgosto. Níobe, debruçada sobre os corpos dos filhos, ergue os braços para o céu: “Farta-te, ó cruel Latona, com a minha dor! Exulta e celebra o triunfo, inimiga vitoriosa! Mas porquê vitoriosa? No infortúnio ainda me resta mais que a ti: mesmo após tanta morte ainda venço.” “E eis que do arco armado ressoou a corda.” Apolo e Diana recomeçam a disparar as setas… já só resta uma filha e Níobe suplica: «'Deixa-me só uma, a mais pequena! De tantos, imploro-te a mais pequena, só uma!’, berrou ela. E, enquanto implora, por quem implora morre.» Fica só, entre os cadáveres dos catorzes filhos e o do marido. Está hirta de dor, já nada vive nela. Toda ela é pedra. Porém ainda chora. “fixada no cimo de um monte, desfaz-se a chorar, e ainda hoje do mármore jorram lágrimas.”
