i feel alienated with this new peace i found. i’ve been contented feeling peace with a heavy heart. is this the true peace? of feeling like the burden has been lifted. of being aware of the empty space right at the center of my chest.

there's the empty chair

i’ve sit on this chair for so long

nursing my broken bones

there’s comfort in familiarity

in the way i pulled it back

settling myself in the soft cushion

feeling the hard wood supporting me.

it has witness the blues

the pages turning

cup full, hot on the surface, unfilling

time wasting.

i'm still waiting.

ending has always been certain

the silence of taking it all in

(am I ready for this?)

finally deciding

it's time to leave the chair empty.
