@n3vers said : About half an hour passed since the police left the Uris residence . Patricia was still in shock as she called Jakob to tell him what happened .
it had been a rather typical day ; wake up early, water the plants, feed the cat, go for a run, take a shower. it was perfectly sunny out, the sky was full of fluffy cotton clouds. jakob had accomplished a lot today, and even managed to stop by the post office and library. the only issue was he couldn’t seem to choke his way past the feeling of impending doom, a feeling of utter despair and fear that seemed to be lurking around every corner. initially, he’d blamed it on his ptsd, knowing he’d had a rough couple of days thanks to an altercation at the gas pump a few days earlier. it had him checking over his shoulder, afraid to drive his car, nervous to even say hello to anyone. it all felt ... wrong.
jakob had been in the middle of reheating yesterday’s dinner when he heard his phone ringing in the living room, jogging in to see who could be calling him so late in the evening. patricia’s name lit up his screen, the background image a picture of her and his brother on their wedding day. a gentle smile, sliding his thumb across the screen to answer, only momentarily distracted by the annoying beeping of his microwave in the kitchen. viola, dinner. “ hey girl , long time no talk to . ” the phone is tucked between his ear and shoulder, allowing him to step back into the kitchen and pull the chinese food out of the microwave, a soft hiss passing his lips as he burned the tips of his fingers. “ ow , mm -- what’s up ? ”
