Having just come home, Rob walked wordlessly over to Albert and wrapped his arms around him from behind, pulling him tightly against him in a warm hug.
Surprised, it took Bertie a moment to realise what was happening, wriggling on the spot to try to half free himself so he could turn around and see who had their arms around him. His mood had been low for a number of reasons and his temper had meant he had been left alone for most of the day. With no Rob for him to quiz, Bertie’s mood had sunk lower and lower.
“Oh it’s -you!” He exclaimed with more relief than he was letting on, his hands falling to land over Rob’s and lean back into him and his warmth. “I missed you —-today.”
