Three Japanese river otter (ニホンカワウソ nihon kawauso) mascots, at the Gotōchi Chara Matsuri in Susaki (left to right):
Nihon Kawauso Gen-chan (ニホンカワウソ幻ちゃん) from Ehime Prefecture
Shinjō-kun (しんじょう君) from Susaki, Kōchi Prefecture
Naashi-kun (なーしくん) from Ainan, Ehime Prefecture
This extinct otter (or maybe not) is the official animal of Ehime Prefecture, and the last confirmed sighting was in the Shinjō River in Susaki, in neighbouring Kōchi.
Not Shinjō-kun, but another Japanese river otter mascot: Naashi-kun (なーしくん) from Ainan, Ehime Prefecture (not too far away from Susaki). This one has a kawachi-bankan pomelo hat (a type of citrus fruit), a pearl necklace, and a skipjack tuna biting his tail.
I think Kappa no Kotarō and Spanky are hungry...
