Nabanga Residency in an old WWII Bunker from 1942 Santo, Vanuatu #thepeacewireproject meets #PeaceCorpsVanuatu #peacecorps #vanuatu #nabanga #regrowth #peace (at Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu)
"Nabangas" The Nabanga trees, or banyan trees, in Vanuatu are unbelievably beautiful and mysterious. In this village on Uripiv Island, the walking path leads through the tree, which creates a small tunnel for the daily commute. Nabangas have a lot of cultural significance all around Vanuatu, as you can hear about them in many kastom stories. Also, these large trees are often landmarks, meeting places, and even nakamals (kava bars) on Tanna Island. Their main trunk is indistinguishable, as the hundreds of vines grow in many directions, twisting and turning. Each Nabanga is unique and equally curious from the next. Under it's shade is wonderful place to daydream about life and the wonders of the world, like, "How did this magnificent tree come to be?" The gnarled vine-like trunks are strong and provide a jungle gym paradise to explore great heights like a fairy tale story 🍃 #nabanga #bayantree #vanuatu #explore #ThePeaceWireProject meets #PeaceCorpsVanuatu #peacecorps #thegreatadventure
