Black Raven week: Day 1 - Black Raven

“I am the Black Raven. Welcome to my market.” love the design for this guy... he’s so creepy and yet so playful at the same time, feels very fitting for the kids who don his mask!

you know the hardest part about making a height comparison is the lack of feet in the profile images to make sure everyone’s on even ground. the group shot comes close, but some of them are stuck hiding in the back and Crow’s a shadow. it’s not quite perfect in a few places (namely Louis, he’s floating a bit above the rest but should be just a bit taller than Badger) but hey, it’s better than nothing.

I think the height order from tallest to shortest is Louis, Badger, Crow, Tweeds/Gus, Nabby/Roddy, Marilyn, Wren, Socket, Scraps. Marilyn, Wren, and Socket are basically all the same though.

Black Raven week: Day 5 - Work

“We keep meticulous records here. A black market needs organization!”

Documenting, pricing, packaging and storing plenty of found and refurbished pieces for the market. I’m sure it’s no easy task, especially keeping everyone on the same page so nothing slips through the cracks and exposes their clever operation. The sheer size of a lot of their wares backstage impressed me, must a feat just to transport the stuff down into the market’s auction house!

NPC appreciation week: day 4 - Last Specter/Spectre’s Call

phew! ok - I mean I had to do the Black Ravens. They were the most stand out group of characters with a really fun concept and lots of great character designs and personalities - there’s so many of them I rarely draw them all so! Perfect excuse to do so today :) love these little punks - they’re playing some kinda card game but don’t ask me what (regardless, Crow certainly thinks he’s winning)

Bunch of trouble makers! Been thinking non-stop about Takuzo’s drawing of the Black Ravens he uploaded to twitter and had to redraw it. I LOVE my kids... also a bunch of Crow and Nabby doodles bc I always forget Nabby is second-in-command? I bet they’re neighbours and Crow’s been dragging Nabby into his schemes since they were tots - Nabby will follow him to the ends of the earth but they WILL complain about it the entire time.

Local Black Market Bird Cult Still Going Strong....  wanted to take a crack at young adult designs for the black ravens (plus, bonus Barde siblings) - a fun exercise trying to decide how their sense of style and future aspirations would develop based on what they wear and their minimal screen time/character profiles
