Nada not fit enough to last 5 games today while Emily not too keen on being on a squash court...

Basically, I haven’t been able to train properly since January because on my foot injury, so I was dead from the first game on. I kept pushing but in five games, it came down to who was stronger mentally or better physically. I wasn’t physically strong enough…

Emily

The last place I wanted to be was on a squash court, I just haven't been enjoying it, but I treated it like I was on holiday, going to the gym in the morning chilling out in the afternoons kind of thing. She played quite well in the first two games, she hit some good shots, and I thought that if I could get a blowout and feel that I had physically done something, then it wouldn't be a waste of time coming down here. I got her tired, my shots started coming through, and it just went my way. Amanda clearly is playing well, she won a big tournament in Texas and she's been on the rise since her comeback from injury. I'm expecting her to be fresh, to hit the ball as clean as she does every time she's on court. Hopefully now I've got one match under my belt, maybe I'll feel better on court. I'm looking forward to it.

Nada Abbas put too much pressure on herself against Haley Mendez

Nada After my good results in the British Open, where I beat Nouran El Gohar in the first round, and only lost 3:2 against Donna in the second round, I didn’t want to lose in front of my family, I didn’t want to lose in Egypt, in my country. And I put a lot of pressure on myself. And I don’t know why? I’m only 16, I shouldn’t be expected to win big matches, but I just want to do good. And today, she was controlling the pace, she was controlling the T, she was controlling everything. At 2/1 down, I told myself, oh well, I lost now, might as well go for my shots, and let the racquet go. And it worked. Today, I am disappointed in myself, because I didn’t play my game at all, I just put far too much pressure on myself, and I should tell myself I had nothing to lose. And after the match, the only thing I could think of was: but what if I lost… how terrible it would have been….
