Still don’t get why a lot of people hated the wintefell plot so much… i mean if is about the discussion between Arya and S/a/nsa, i think it would be ooc for Arya to simply trust her, i mean they love each other and they are sisters, but they had been so far from each other and remember the last time Arya saw S/a/nsa, she was with the Lannisters and it betrothed to Joffrey, i mean, they have a pretty odd history as sisters.

The reason I dislike the Winterhell plot is because of what it does to Arya’s character. The story makes her look like an idiot and reduces her to violence all to make her sister look better by comparison. Just a few examples of this:

She spies in plain sight.

Is easily fooled by Littledouche even though she has training is lies and reading people.

She wants to kill anyone who isn’t 100% pro-Jon

She threatens her sister with violence.

She was given dialogue to praise her sister while trashing herself

A line that’s central to her arc and has no connection to her sister was given to said sister

She reduced herself to just an executioner, opening the door for her sister’s stans to reduce her to a sword that her sister can swing.

This is why this story was pure, undiluted shit. Arya being killed by the Waif last season would have been a better in comparison.

That said, if this was just about Arya not trusting her sister, that would be different. At this point, they have issues still to work out according to GRRM. There’s no reason they would immediately have a trusting relationship or even a loving one. I just don’t believe anything that happened at Winterfell in the last few seasons makes any kind of sense at all. But JMO. 

A more realistic Winterfell story would have involved:

S never being married to Ramsay since she’s already married to Tyrion. She would stay in the Vale. 

The Northerners caring that the Boltons have taken Rickon prisoner and rising up to save him.

Littlefinger bring the Vale army north under the guise of helping the Starks, but planning to take advantage of the severely weakened region. He’s unprepared for how many of the Stark forces survive and how ready the Vale lords and ladies are to ally themselves with them due to the history of respect they have for them.

Jon being named Lord Regent while they searched for Bran.

Jon leaving an experienced adult as castellan to rule in his stead instead of leaving a child with no experience in governing a region in charge.

Instead of giving S skills she has no foundation for, they could have allowed her to do the things she enjoys doing and being happy. A casting change for S would be nice as well.

Bran returning home as Bran. He would be struggling with his new powers and trying to reconcile his magical destiny, his political duty, and his own wants.

Bran being kind to Meera and valuing her as the epic heroine she is.

Arya returns to Wintefell and is aw of being home and thrilled to reunite with the siblings who are there. She and S are happy to see each other, but aren’t lovey dovey and there are issues still there.

Bran starts teaching Arya to skinchange. This helps her guide Nymeria and her pack north because they have a part to play in fighting the Night King’s levies. 

Littlefinger would want to cause a rift between the siblings and would bring out that weak ass letter. Arya would bring it to S and Bran. They would realize what LF is trying to do and let him think his plot was working. They work together to manipulate him into incriminating himself so Bran can sentence him to death and execute him with the same blade LF gave him. 

The siblings all grow closer through this.

All the while Jon is watching over his siblings through Ghost who follows Arya around and even sleeps by the hearth in her room.
