the thing about that post is that NG is worse than TF because byakuya treats both of them horribly in exactly the same ways but makoto's just Not Into It the way toko is. toko's a consenting party in the byakuya torture zone. makoto on the other hand is too vanilla for this.
naegi talks about having his self-esteem shattered, having to brace himself for psychological abuse whenever he interacts with togami, gets told to die, gets told he's worthless, is constantly put down, gets bossed around and is told by togami to open a door they think could be rigged with a bomb (btw he had fukawa being his 'errand girl' before they realised there were bombs around). in ch2, togami gets naegi to tag along because he is testing naegi. he is seeing whether naegi is someone he needs to look out for and 'deal' with in the killing game.
ofc i'm not saying togami has never treated fukawa poorly but as you said, fukawa is like... mostly unbothered while naegi is very much bothered. there's also some hints that there's something going on with tofu (red lingerie scene, seen around each other a lot, togami saying he likes girls with 'meat on the bone' to her, fukawa saying she wishes she could have seen togami at different angles in the camera room and togami being freaked out that they're being broadcasted to japan... bad end picture... collecting fukawa from towa later... i could go on). so you can see their relationship is complex with stuff we don't know or see while naegi+togami doesn't have any of that as we play as naegi and are inside his head.
and it's as naegi said, him and togami come from two different worlds. i can see them becoming friends and yes togami is way less harsh to him later on, but it still doesn't sit right with me and they're just way too incompatible for a relationship. and i don't get why people are fine brushing all this shit togami does to naegi under the rug even if their relationship improves, but with fukawa it's like all unforgivable and blown out.
