Thoughts....
Irish dance is like no other sport or art ever before. The competition ends the minute we step off stage. On stage we are battling for our lives it seems but one step off the smooth marley turns competitors into best friends. Everything is left on the stage and friendships are created.
To prove this point, I just wanted to mention my favorite part of Nationals this year. On the morning of the day I danced, I got down to the ballroom relatively early. The first sight I saw was erin-irishdances hovering over watch-us-rise a few rows ahead of me. Excited to see my friends who live halfway across the country from me, I ran right up to them. There was Erin putting on Hadley’s fake eyelashes. Two girls from two different dance studios getting ready together and me chatting right there next to them. Three girls, three different studios, three different states, but one love.
It didn’t matter that we were competing against each other that day. All that mattered was that we had a love for dance. Irish dance friendships will always mean the world to me.
