Soft Shoe, Holly Fisher, 1987
Y’all, I’ve been wanting to point this out for a while since I’ve seen several people call the dancing during the movie version of King of New York to be tap dancing. It’s the earlier form of tap dancing called soft shoe. It’s tap steps that are used softer and more broader and also danced wearing leather or canvas soles. Somewhere in a bts I remember Ortega even calling it soft shoe! They utilized Max Casella’s tap experience and used it to do soft shoe. Please call it for what it is.
