Oh brother this is a whole new art medium I need to master bc my first attempt was a bloodbath
Feminist goes to the salon.
Ok so I’m a pretty new feminist who has ditched makeup (was never an avid makeup person in the first place tho) but I always have and still do love nail art. So I’m at my aunts house and she wanted to take me to get my nails done at a salon which I’d never done before, so I was like yea sure sounds fun. Here’s a before and after pic just for fun.
Sporkle sporkle.
But holy heck I wasn’t expecting it to be actually painful. They wash your hands and file your nails which is all fine and cool, but then there’s this spinny sandpaper sort of thing that shaves off the top layer of the nail. It didn’t hurt the nail itself but it did feel very weird, like hello I’m pretty sure that layer of nail is there for a reason? It gave me a weirdly vulnerable feeling (like that’s def a strong word but idk how else to describe it). It definitely hurt the surrounding skin, like it burned ngl. And then they used this sponge soaked in some kind of alcohol and that really stung like woah. So then they get to the painting which was cool and fun, but the little curing chamber they use is very warm and when the nails go in it straight up burns. I don’t outwardly show pain easily but I was flinching and fidgeting in there ngl.
The nails don’t interfere with my ability to do things tho which was a nice surprise. I think they’re actually considerably shorter than they were before. There are many layers of gel polish tho, which prevents me from scratching my face which is a habit I have so like, that’s cool but also annoying I guess.
So yeah not a great experience, I’d do it again for like a girls night out or whatever but I’d never do it on my own. I’d rather just paint my own nails. These are supposed to last for 2-3 weeks which is cool, I always like seeing my nails grow out with regular polish on, so to see it grow over the course of weeks will be fun and exciting. And it was fun, like it was a good time spent with my aunt, just wanted to point out some of the more painful aspects of the whole thing that I wasn’t aware of going in.

my coworker and i made a resolution to try and maintain bad bitch nails 😂. we make so much noise (and typos) typing with our acrylics but it’s so worth it. let’s see how long i can keep this up. my pinterest board for nails is ready tho. 💅🏾
nail chronicles 1.3
it’s that time again. fresh set of bbn’s and a new nail tech haha hooked me up. i wanted to go brighter but waiting until we’re deeper into spring to show out. my coworker is still going strong with her bbn’s too. sunday adulting done, now back to simming...

even with a pinterest board i was still very indecisive about this round of bbn’s, but very happy with how these came out. didn’t cut them down this time. living on the edge of being able to function in real life 😂🤣 gonna keep pushing it 😬
