Jordana - my superstar
I thought I would hate this but I actually like it over the blue
This is probably a long shot on tumblr of all places but can any girlies out there help me figure out what kind of nail polish I should be buying? Now that I've been (mostly) not biting my nails for over a year I feel like I want to get some actually good nail polishes but I have literally no idea where to start, or really anything about nail polish in general.
I've tried a few different black nail polishes over the years with mixed results, but the one I've got on hand right now (Sally hansen hard as nails in Black Heart) fucking blows. It chips in ways/places that I didn't even know were possible and does not actually feel like it's doing anything positive for the "hardening"/strengthening of my nails. I need a good, reliable black polish. Bonus if it's actually beneficial to the strength of my nails too.
I've been using OPI Natural Nail Strengthener as a bottom coat (and sometimes as the only coat) on my nails for a while now and it does actually seem to help my nails grow a bit thicker/break less easily. Any better recommendations though? My mom used Sally hansen miracle cure religiously when I was a kid and she had really great nails, so that was the first one I tried and I don't think I really noticed much of a difference. I'm looking for the 21st century upgrade.
Also, I have been looking for LITERALLY YEARS to find a good, deep green shimmery nail polish and it feels sort of impossible to find. A couple of years ago when the first Wicked movie came out, Ulta had a bunch of Wicked themed stuff and they had an OPI nail polish colab with one color called Ozmopolitan that was EXACTLY the color I've been looking for, and I really thought I'd found my white whale when I bought it but it is actually probably the worst nail polish I've ever used. It is somehow both streaky enough to make me think that it's too thin, and chunky enough (????) to make me think that it's too thick, or maybe just very old or not mixed very well. According to Google I didn't get a bad bottle, it's just shit quality. So this is the color I'm looking for (NOT my photo):
It really feels like this should not be such a hard color to find!!!!! What am I missing here?
Any help or perspectives or recommendations would be very appreciated!!!! 🖤
