Nolan’s car is sitting in the driveway and there are lights on inside the house; Theo immediately jumps out of the drivers seat, leaving Mason, Corey, and Liam waiting in the cars. As Theo begins to make his way towards the side of the house, he pauses and listens through the home’s open windows. Rather than march forward, he turns back to the three waiting and motions for them to get out of the vehicle. The cars are turned off and once the other three start heading towards the side door of the house, they hear what gave Theo pause in his scaring. “AND YOU DIDN’T THINK TO TELL ME THIS WASN’T ENOUGH WHEN IT STARTED’ The shadows of two people are cast on the curtains of the first story windows as one is running across the house, leaving the other desperately trailing behind.

Generic EDM bass is physically thumping into the dance floor of the Sinema, continuing to shake their bones as Brett and Alec push their way through the sweaty bodies to plop into the side booth Marissa had been holding down. Now outside of the choking pile of bodies on the dance floor, they catch a glimpse of the bar and the two men they have been subconsciously listening to all night. Leaning with his back against the bar, dressed in a shimmery, nearly slutty top and trying his best to flirt without embarrassing himself is Nolan, the center of the eavesdropping; immersed in the conversation solely to be protectors, neither Brett or Alec have heard any code words for ‘Immediate Danger’ so they throw themselves down and turn to their on-and-off partner Marissa. She passes the two wolfsbane-infused beers she was watching for them as they settle in. Marissa, a beta from Portland, was becoming a regular down in California for McCall and Hale pack meetings and a couple diplomatic missions.

Brett scents the burning cinnamon of Nolan’s sudden panic before he realizes exactly what has happened as Nolan frantically moves his laptop and sketchbook into the crook of his arm and he sprints away; Brett hears the tail end of a ‘See you later’ that only his wolf senses can pick up from a quickly disappearing Nolan.
