Letter Prompt
Your character is in a position where they may never see their loved ones again. If they write letters, to whom are they addressed and what do they say? If not, what do they do?
[I did this based off the assumption Jos believes he’d die].
Riizen,
Yeah, did I mention I’m pretty shit at keeping promises? Well, I am. Surprise to nobody I’m sure. Whatever, if I’m dead and they found my body, take my ring, will you? The one with the purple stone, the only one I wear, and put it on. If nothing else maybe it’ll help you where I can’t.
-Jos
Clarissa,
Hey, so, I know we were finally actually getting along, or at least I think we were, but who would’ve guessed it, I’m pretty much built for failure.
At first I was really kind of ticked that I felt guilty for the existence of someone I never knew of, but that’s not really your fault. I’m sorry you had two shit fathers instead of just the one, that’s just fucked and if I could’ve gone back to stop that I would have.
I know it’s kind of shitty to ask for something when I’m gone and probably dead, but there’s a woman in Stormwind, Nalmie Tenderbrook, she’s pregnant with my kid, could you do me a favor and be her bodyguard now? Not like I can do much now.
-Jos
Nalmie,
If you’re reading this, I’m probably dead, my luck finally caught up with me. I’m sure it’s a relief since I put your place in so much turmoil and got you pregnant. I leave whatever earthly possessions I do have to the kid though, whenever they’re older. I hope you get him a better father than I’d ever be. Oh, and if you never tell the kid about me then you can just go ahead and throw away the other note I sent you.
-Jos
P.S. I asked someone to come be your bodyguard in my stead, she’s much more on the ball than me.
Kiddo,
Look at that, you know how to read, which is probably much better than I could say at your age. Hello, I’m the father you never met, which is for the best in the end, I’m kind of a terrible person. Don’t worry though, you have your mom for all your good traits, just stay away from anything you can get addicted to and you should be safe from my genes.
I really hope your mom hasn’t built you up to this moment talking about how amazing I was in some fashion or another, because man I’m going to be a total fucking let down, and on the other side of things I really wish she would have said those things while I was around.
I’m going to write some pieces of wisdom below that I feel like will be important in your adult life.
Don’t let anyone dictate who you are and who you’ll become.
Fate and destiny are just fancy ways of tying you down.
Love is great, but can also be greedy, find someone who will respect you and never take more than they give.
Find someone who will have your back and never give them up, doesn’t matter if it’s your friend or someone you fall for, everybody needs someone to watch out for them.
I wasn’t great and I didn’t get the chance to really become great, but there was a small part of me that hoped you’d help me reach it. I know you’re the great I wished to achieve.
-Jos

Bonus: the song I listened to while writing this.
